AI lead generation is the use of AI to find the companies and people who fit your market, fill in verified contact data, write the outreach and capture inbound interest, so a small team covers more ground. The tools worth a shortlist in 2026: Apollo for AI search and sequences in one seat (Free plan, Basic $49 per user a month billed annually), Cleanlist AI (our product) for AI agents that find buyers across 1B+ profiles, verify their emails and direct dials across 25+ providers and send the sequence (from $49 per seat a month), Clay for AI research agents over 150+ data providers (Launch $185 a month), Instantly or Smartlead for AI-assisted cold email (from $47 and $39 a month), and Qualified or Landbot for inbound. Prices checked October 1, 2026, except where a row names an earlier date.
Disclosure: Cleanlist AI publishes this page and is one of the 14 tools. Competitor prices come from each vendor's own pricing page with the date we read it. Accuracy figures for Cleanlist AI are from our own benchmark.
What is AI lead generation?
AI lead generation is a B2B sales method where software uses AI models to do the four jobs a rep used to do by hand: build a list of accounts and people that match an ideal customer profile, enrich each record with a verified email and phone number, draft and send personalized outreach, and qualify inbound visitors on your website. Each job has its own category of tool. Apollo and Clay build lists from a plain-English description. Cleanlist AI and Cognism fill in contact data. Instantly, Smartlead and Lemlist write and send. Qualified and Landbot talk to website visitors. The AI changes how fast each step runs. It does not change which market you should sell to, and it does not make bad contact data good.
What are the best AI lead generation tools in 2026?
The best AI lead generation tools in 2026, grouped by the job they do, are Apollo, Cleanlist AI (our product), Clay, Seamless.AI, ZoomInfo and Persana for list building and research; Cognism for enrichment; Instantly, Smartlead, Lemlist and Amplemarket for writing and sequencing; and Qualified, 6sense and Landbot for inbound. Most teams need one tool from the first two groups and one from the third.

The Apollo, Seamless, Persana, Cognism, Lemlist, Amplemarket and 6sense rows come from the September 2026 B2B data pricing index, whose open CSV carries the source URL and read date for every vendor. ZoomInfo's figure is Vendr's median across 1,574 recorded purchases, not a published price.
Can I use AI for lead generation?
Yes. In 2026 AI can run most of B2B lead generation: Apollo, Clay and Cleanlist AI turn a sentence like "VPs of Sales at 50 to 200 person SaaS companies in the US" into a filtered list, Cleanlist AI and Clay fill in verified emails and phone numbers across many providers, Instantly and Lemlist draft and send personalized sequences, and Qualified answers website visitors. Three things still need a person. You pick the market and the offer. You check a sample of the list before sending, because AI tools return confident rows whether or not the data underneath is current. And you review the first messages, since generic AI copy is easy to spot. Start with one job, usually list building plus enrichment, and add sending once the list is clean.
How can AI be used for lead generation?
AI is used in lead generation in four places, and each feeds the next:
- List building. You describe the ideal customer in plain English and the tool converts it to filters. Apollo, Clay and Cleanlist AI's Clu all do this. Any part of your sentence the tool has no filter for is dropped, so check what came back.
- Enrichment. The tool finds a verified work email and a direct dial for each person. Waterfall tools such as Cleanlist AI and Clay try several providers in turn; a single database returns what it holds.
- Writing and sending. Instantly, Smartlead, Lemlist and Amplemarket draft personalized lines, rotate inboxes and keep domains warm.
- Inbound qualification. Qualified, Landbot and 6sense identify or talk to visitors and route the good ones to sales.
A fifth use is research: Clay's Claygent and Persana's agents read a company's website and write a structured answer into a column, such as "Does this company sell to hospitals?"
What is the best AI lead generation tool?
There is no single best AI lead generation tool, because the category covers four jobs. For a team that wants one seat to search and send, Apollo is the best pick: its Free plan works and Basic is $49 per user a month on annual billing. For a team whose problem is bounced emails and dead phone numbers, Cleanlist AI (our product) is the pick: it runs each record through 25+ providers until one returns a verified result, at 1 credit per verified work email and 10 per phone number, and its Sequences send from each rep's own inbox. For a RevOps team that wants to design its own enrichment and research logic, Clay is best, from $185 a month. For cold email volume, Instantly. For inbound, Qualified if you run Salesforce and can buy enterprise software, Landbot if you cannot.
AI list building and research tools
Apollo
Apollo combines a contact database it puts at "240M+ verified B2B contacts" and "30M+ companies" with AI search, an email writer, sequences and a dialer. Apollo's AI page promises to "pull lead lists with natural language, not filters." Enrichment runs Apollo's own data first and then partners you choose. Apollo meters an email at 1 credit and a phone number at 8. The Free plan gives 75 credits per seat a month; Basic is $49 per user a month billed annually or $65 monthly, read September 1, 2026. Apollo is the best value for a founder or small team that wants search and sending in one bill. Per-seat pricing grows with headcount. See Apollo alternatives if it does not fit.
Cleanlist AI (our product)
Disclosure. We make Cleanlist AI. Its 98% verified email and 85% direct dial figures come from our own 500-lead benchmark, which tested no other tool on this page.
Cleanlist AI gives you AI agents that run your GTM. Clu, Cleanlist AI's GTM agent, finds buyers across 1B+ profiles from one sentence, gets verified emails and direct dials from 25+ providers, writes and sends sequences, and syncs to HubSpot or Salesforce. Starter is $49 a seat a month, and always-on agents and CRM sync start on Pro at $89.
Our product
Cleanlist
Cleanlist AI publishes this page. Accuracy figures are from our own benchmark, not a third-party test.
Cleanlist AI: best for B2B teams that want one AI tool to build the list, verify every contact and send the sequence. Cleanlist AI runs waterfall enrichment across 25+ data providers in sequence and stops at the first deliverable result, at 1 credit per verified work email and 10 per phone number. A missed email or phone number costs nothing. It returns 98% verified work emails and 85% phone numbers on the Cleanlist AI 500-Lead Enrichment Benchmark, which is our own test run on a 500-lead sample. Plans start at $49 per seat a month.
Clu, Cleanlist AI's GTM agent, turns one sentence into an agent that searches 1B+ profiles, enriches and verifies every person it finds, adds them to a sequence and posts each run to Slack, every week or on a CRM trigger.

- Fits when
- You need a work email and a phone number on the same row, verified, not two exports you reconcile by hand
- You want the finished list written straight into HubSpot, Salesforce or pushed to Salesloft, Lemlist rather than downloaded as a CSV you re-upload
- Pairs with
- Your existing sequencer, if you already run one. Cleanlist AI pushes to Salesloft and Lemlist, and its own Sequences run email and call steps
- Your intent or signal vendor, if buying-stage scoring is part of your motion
Searching costs 0 credits, a verified work email is 1 credit and a phone number 10, and every seat's credits go into one shared balance. Starter adds unlimited search, Sequences that send email from each rep's own inbox with call tasks, and the MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT. Pro adds 5 active agents that run on a schedule or a CRM trigger and can push leads to Salesloft or Lemlist, plus HubSpot and Salesforce sync and the REST API. It has no built-in dialer and no intent data or technographic filters; for intent, look at 6sense or ZoomInfo.
Clay
Clay is a spreadsheet that calls data providers and AI models. Clay says Claygents "take inputs, follow your instructions, and write a structured output" into a column, and its pricing page lists data from 150+ providers. Clay's Free plan includes 500 actions and 100 data credits a month. Launch is $185 a month, or $167 on annual billing, at the default slider positions; Growth is $495, read October 1, 2026. Clay bills actions and data credits on two separate meters, which our Clay pricing breakdown explains. Clay suits teams with an ops person who will build and maintain workflows.
Seamless.AI
Seamless.AI calls itself "a real-time search engine that helps B2B companies find accurate sales leads," with a Chrome extension to "find leads while browsing the web." Its pricing page offers a Free plan with 50 credits and defines one credit as a phone plus an email; Pro and Enterprise show "Contact sales" instead of a price (read September 1, 2026). Seamless.AI fits individual reps who want lookups inside LinkedIn and are comfortable negotiating a contract.
ZoomInfo
ZoomInfo is the largest enterprise B2B data platform, and ZoomInfo describes its Copilot as "an AI-powered pipeline engine that automates prospecting, personalizes outreach, and manages follow-ups." It adds intent signals and account prioritization on top of contact data. ZoomInfo publishes no list price: its pricing page refused our request on October 1, 2026. Vendr reports a median contract of $33,500 a year across 1,574 recorded purchases, ranging from $7,220 to $155,730. ZoomInfo fits enterprise sales teams with budget and a procurement process.
Persana
Persana is an AI prospecting workspace that describes "AI Research Agents" working across "100+ Premium Data Sources." It has a Free plan with 50 credits and Starter at $85 a month for 2,000 credits with unlimited users, read September 1, 2026. Persana fits small teams that want research agents and enrichment without learning Clay.
AI enrichment tools
Cognism
Cognism is a B2B contact database known for European coverage and what it calls Diamond Data, mobile numbers it says are verified by phone. Its AI search accepts contextual queries. Cognism publishes no price: its page lists Standard and Pro packages with 5 seats included and states "1 credit = 1 revealed contact" (read September 1, 2026). Cognism fits teams selling into Europe who need GDPR-aware data and are ready for an annual contract.
AI writing and sequencing tools
Instantly
Instantly combines cold email sending, inbox warmup, AI copy and a lead finder. Its Growth sending plan is $47 a month, or $37.60 on annual billing; Hypergrowth is $97 and Lightspeed $358. Lead finder credits are a separate plan from $47 a month for 1,500 credits, and bundles of both start at $94 (read October 1, 2026). Instantly fits solo founders and agencies sending at volume. Our Instantly pricing guide reconciles the two meters.
Smartlead
Smartlead is a cold email sending platform with AI-assisted campaigns and a shared warmup pool. Base is $39 a month, or $32.50 on annual billing, for 2,000 contacts, 6,000 sends and 2,000 verified emails; Pro is $94 (read October 1, 2026). Smartlead fits agencies running many client domains.
Lemlist
Lemlist runs AI-personalized sequences across email and LinkedIn, with a lead database bought as credit packs on top of the seat price. The Email plan is $69 a month, or $55 on annual billing, and a 1,000-credit pack is $10 (read September 1, 2026). Lemlist fits teams that want email and LinkedIn steps in one sequence.
Amplemarket
Amplemarket bundles search, enrichment and sending, and sells Duo as "the first AI sales agent that helps sales teams find and connect with their next customers." The Startup plan is $600 a month on an annual term with 2 users included; Growth and Elite are custom (read September 1, 2026). Amplemarket fits teams that want data and sending from one vendor. If you want software that runs outbound on its own, our AI SDR tools guide covers that category.
AI inbound and website tools
Qualified
Qualified puts an AI SDR agent on your website that talks to visitors, answers questions and books meetings. Its pricing page lists Premier, Enterprise and Ultimate plans with "Contact us" instead of a price (read October 1, 2026). Qualified fits B2B companies with real inbound traffic and a Salesforce stack.
6sense
6sense identifies anonymous companies visiting your site and predicts which accounts are in market from intent signals. Its pricing page names three Sales Intelligence editions and ends on a demo request with no figure (read September 1, 2026). Our 6sense pricing guide sets out the buyer-reported range. 6sense fits enterprise ABM programs.
Landbot
Landbot replaces static forms with conversational chatbots that qualify leads and route them. It has a free plan, Starter at €40 a month (€32 annual) and Professional at €100 (€80 annual), with a 14-day trial (read October 1, 2026). Landbot fits small teams that want better form conversion without an enterprise contract.
Which AI lead generation tool is best for your team?
- Solo founder: Apollo Free or Basic, or Cleanlist AI Starter plus Instantly if bounce rates have hurt you before.
- 5 to 20 rep team: Cleanlist AI for the list and a sender such as Lemlist or Smartlead, because Cleanlist AI is priced per seat and every seat adds its credits to one shared balance.
- RevOps team with an ops engineer: Clay, for custom research and enrichment logic.
- Enterprise with procurement: ZoomInfo for data, 6sense for intent, Qualified for inbound.
- Selling into Europe: Cognism.
- Agency sending for clients: Smartlead or Instantly.
- Inbound-led startup: Landbot first, Qualified once traffic justifies it.
What are the top AI tools for sales automation and lead generation in 2026?
The top AI tools that cover both sales automation and lead generation in 2026 are Apollo, Cleanlist AI (our product), Amplemarket and Instantly, because each one finds contacts and sends the sequence. Apollo does it cheapest per seat, from its Free plan to $49 per user a month annual. Cleanlist AI adds AI agents that build the list and verify every email before it can enter a sequence, from $49 per seat a month. Amplemarket adds its Duo agent from $600 a month for two users. Instantly leads on sending volume from $47 a month. Tools built for one job do that job better: Clay for research workflows, Lemlist for multichannel sequences. A common 2026 stack is a list tool, an enrichment tool and a sender, connected through the CRM. Our sales prospecting tools guide covers the list side in more depth.
Is there an AI search engine for lead generation?
Yes, several tools now work as AI search engines for leads: you type a description and get people and companies back. Apollo, Clay, Seamless.AI and Cleanlist AI's Clu all accept plain-English queries, and Vibe Prospecting does it inside Claude. General AI search engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude do not hold verified contact data, so asking one for a prospect's email returns a guess. The way to get real data into a chat assistant is an MCP connector to a data vendor; our comparison of MCP servers for sales covers Apollo, ZoomInfo, Cleanlist AI, Clay and others. Whichever you use, every AI search resolves your sentence into structured filters, so test it with a criterion it cannot filter on and see whether it tells you.
How accurate is AI lead generation data?
AI lead generation data is as accurate as the sources under the AI, and vendors publish figures measured on their own data. Treat every accuracy claim, ours included, as a starting point. Single-database tools return what that database holds for your segment. Waterfall tools such as Cleanlist AI and Clay try several providers, which raises coverage on hard-to-find contacts. Cleanlist AI returned 98% verified work email and 85% phone numbers on our own 500-lead benchmark, which is our test, not a third party's. The only number that decides your campaign is the bounce rate on your own list, so run 100 of your real records through two tools on your shortlist before you sign anything.
How much do AI lead generation tools cost?
AI lead generation tools cost from $0 to more than $30,000 a year, depending on the job. Free plans exist at Apollo, Clay, Seamless.AI, Persana and Landbot. Self-serve paid plans start at $32.50 a month (Smartlead, annual), $47 (Instantly), $49 per seat (Cleanlist AI Starter, 750 credits per seat), $49 per user (Apollo, annual), $85 (Persana) and $185 (Clay Launch). Amplemarket starts at $600 a month on an annual term. ZoomInfo, Cognism, 6sense, Qualified and Seamless.AI's paid plans publish no price. Cleanlist AI's plans are Starter $49 and Pro $89 per seat a month, Enterprise custom, 25% off annual, and new workspaces start with a 14-day Pro trial of 250 credits and three seats. Full details are on the Cleanlist AI pricing page.
For the enrichment step on its own, see our waterfall enrichment tools comparison, and for account research platforms, the sales intelligence platforms guide.
