The short version

Yes, HubSpot has an official MCP server. It runs at mcp.hubspot.com, signs each user in with OAuth, and reads and writes contacts, companies, deals, tickets, leads and activities as that user. It also powers HubSpot's own connectors for Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Gemini. HubSpot lists the Claude and ChatGPT connectors on all HubSpot products and plans; Claude needs a paid Anthropic plan. Through those connectors it writes 10 records at a time, it never deletes, and it has no people database of its own, so it cannot find anyone who is not in HubSpot yet or verify an email. Cleanlist AI publishes this review and also makes an MCP server, which the worked flow below uses. Cleanlist AI's plans are on the pricing page.

Facts checked October 3, 2026. Every HubSpot fact below comes from HubSpot's developer docs (pages last modified September 18 and September 30, 2026) and its knowledge base articles for the Claude and ChatGPT connectors, each read on October 3, 2026. This review did not run a test account through the server, so it carries no speed or accuracy numbers.

What is the HubSpot MCP server?

The HubSpot MCP server is a hosted endpoint that lets an AI client work inside your HubSpot account the way a user would. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard for connecting AI applications to outside systems. HubSpot's server takes a tool call from the AI client, turns it into a HubSpot API request, and returns the data or confirms the change.

HubSpot runs two MCP servers:

  • The HubSpot MCP server (remote). At mcp.hubspot.com. It reads and writes CRM records, activities, segments, marketing emails and content for one connected account. This is the one this review covers.
  • The Developer MCP server (local). It runs on your machine through the HubSpot CLI (hs mcp setup) and helps developers scaffold and deploy apps on HubSpot's Developer Platform. It requires Developer Platform version 2025.2.

HubSpot lists four jobs the remote server is built for: pulling contact lists by criteria, plain-language pipeline summaries, turning meeting notes into record updates, and finding patterns across closed-lost deals.

Is the HubSpot MCP server official?

Yes. HubSpot builds and hosts it, and HubSpot's own AI connectors for Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and ChatGPT run on it. That gives you two ways in:

  • The connectors. For people working in Claude or ChatGPT. Install HubSpot's connector from the client's directory, and the client handles the OAuth flow.
  • A custom MCP connector. For teams building their own agent. Create an MCP connector in HubSpot, then point any MCP client that supports OAuth with PKCE at mcp.hubspot.com.

HubSpot's docs say it plainly: the connectors are for people working in those AI tools, and the MCP server is for builders adding HubSpot access to an agent they are creating.

Is the HubSpot MCP server free?

No HubSpot page read for this review lists a separate charge for it.

  • Claude connector: "Available with any of the following subscriptions: All products and plans." You need a paid Anthropic subscription (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise).
  • ChatGPT connector: "available to all HubSpot customers across all tiers with an OpenAI account."
  • Custom connectors: apps built on the server follow the same distribution limits as other HubSpot apps.

Three catches. All usage counts against HubSpot's API usage limits. Some tools need a paid edition: the AEO tools need Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, quotes need Revenue Hub Professional or Enterprise, and accounts on HubSpot's free tools cannot create custom pipelines. And tool availability depends on your subscription and permissions, so run get_user_details after connecting to see what your account actually gets.

How do I connect HubSpot to Claude or ChatGPT?

A Super Admin approves the connector first. During approval they choose which data permissions it gets and who can install it. Super Admins and users with App Marketplace Access can connect Claude without that step. For ChatGPT, HubSpot's article says a Super Admin must approve the connector before users can connect it.

Claude:

  1. In Claude, click your profile icon, then Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Click Browse, search for HubSpot, and click Connect.
  3. Log in to HubSpot and pick the account.
  4. Choose the permissions to allow and click Connect app.

ChatGPT:

  1. In ChatGPT, click your profile icon, then Settings, then Apps.
  2. Select HubSpot, click Connect, then Continue to HubSpot.
  3. Log in, pick the account, choose permissions and click Connect App.

A custom agent: in HubSpot, open Development, then MCP Connectors, and click Create MCP connector. Give it a name and a redirect URL. HubSpot generates a client ID and secret. Configure your MCP client with those, the redirect URL and https://mcp.hubspot.com. PKCE is required. To test, MCP Inspector handles PKCE for you: connect over Streamable HTTP, finish the OAuth flow, list the tools and run get_user_details.

One Claude account connects to one HubSpot account at a time. Agencies switch by disconnecting and reconnecting.

The tools it exposes, and what each one is good for

HubSpot's docs list 32 public tools. These are the ones a sales or RevOps team will use most.

ToolWhat it doesLimit HubSpot documents
get_user_detailsYour user, account and per-object read and write accessRun it first
search_crm_objectsFilters and searches records5 filter groups of 6 filters each; 200 results a page
get_crm_objectsFetches records by ID100 IDs per request
manage_crm_objectsCreates or updates records and activitiesShows proposed changes and needs your confirmation
query_crm_dataSQL-style queries with filters, aggregation and sortingNo joins, subqueries, aliases or association traversal
search_properties, get_propertiesFinds property names and values5 keywords per search

The rest cover marketing emails, landing pages, website pages, blog posts, campaigns, content analytics, custom properties, pipelines and HubSpot's AEO reporting. HubSpot notes that the server is built on the CRM search API, which has no vector search.

What works today, and what does not

The question in the top Reddit thread on this search is "Anyone using HubSpot MCP?" Going by HubSpot's own docs, here is the plain answer.

Works today:

  • Asking about pipeline, owners, deals and activity in plain language.
  • Pulling contact lists by lifecycle stage, last activity or deal association.
  • Creating and updating contacts, companies, deals, tickets, leads, line items, products and custom objects.
  • Logging calls, emails, meetings, notes and tasks from a meeting summary.
  • Creating static segments and adding records to them.
  • Drafting marketing emails and building landing pages, with confirmation before anything publishes.

Does not work, or works with limits:

  • Deleting. The connectors support view, create and update only.
  • Large writes. The Claude and ChatGPT connectors create or update 10 records at a time.
  • Validation in ChatGPT. HubSpot says custom validation rules, including pipeline stage and association label validations, are not applied through the ChatGPT connector. Claude applies conditional property rules and pipeline stage validations, though not association label validations.
  • Sensitive Data accounts. With Sensitive Data turned on, activities and conversations are blocked through MCP.
  • Joins. query_crm_data cannot join objects or walk associations.
  • Sequences. HubSpot's tool list has no tool for enrolling a contact in a sequence.

What it cannot do

The HubSpot MCP server works on the data in your HubSpot account, and only that.

  • Find people who are not in HubSpot. No tool searches outside your account, so "find 40 Heads of Finance at my target companies" returns only the ones already there.
  • Verify an email or find a phone number. It writes the values it is given.
  • Write in bulk. Ten records per connector write means a 200-contact import is 20 batches, each one confirmed.
  • Delete or merge. Clean-up stays in HubSpot.

A worked flow: HubSpot MCP and Cleanlist AI MCP together

The job a HubSpot team wants from a chat is the one HubSpot's server cannot do alone: find the right people at companies you own, skip the ones already in HubSpot, put verified contact data on the rest and create them as contacts. Pair HubSpot's connector with a data server and it is one prompt. Cleanlist AI makes the data server used here, so read this section as a vendor's example.

Setup. Two connectors in Claude: HubSpot's connector and Cleanlist AI's MCP server (included from Cleanlist AI's Starter plan).

The prompt. "Find Heads of Finance and Controllers at the companies I own in HubSpot with lifecycle stage Lead, skip anyone already in HubSpot, get verified work emails and phone numbers, and create them as contacts on the right company."

What Claude runs:

  1. HubSpot search_owners finds your owner ID. search_crm_objects on companies filters on that owner and the lifecycle stage and returns names and domains, 200 to a page.
  2. Cleanlist AI search_people searches those exact domains for the titles. Searching costs nothing. On Cleanlist AI plans with HubSpot sync, the search can also drop anyone already in your HubSpot before it runs.
  3. HubSpot search_crm_objects on contacts checks any borderline names, and Claude removes the matches.
  4. Cleanlist AI create_list and add_leads_to_list save the survivors. estimate_cost returns a signed quote, so enrichment cannot spend past it. enrich_list runs the waterfall for work emails and phone numbers, and enrich_status waits for it. A person with nothing found costs nothing.
  5. HubSpot tool_guidance returns the association rules, then manage_crm_objects creates each contact with name, title, email and phone, associates it with its company and sets you as owner. Claude shows the proposed changes and waits for your yes, 10 records at a time.
  6. HubSpot manage_segment adds the new contacts to a static segment, ready for a sequence or workflow in HubSpot.

In Claude's tool settings, set HubSpot's write tools to Needs Approval, as HubSpot recommends. Teams on Cleanlist AI's Pro plan can skip step 5: Cleanlist AI's two-way HubSpot sync writes the enriched contacts and companies to HubSpot properties directly. To run it every week without a prompt, ask Clu, Cleanlist AI's GTM agent, to turn it into an agent that posts each run to Slack (agents start on Pro). See how agents work, the HubSpot integration and the Cleanlist AI MCP setup.

HubSpot MCP vs Salesforce MCP vs Apollo and ZoomInfo MCP

CRM servers act on the records you already have. Data servers find new ones. Most teams that prospect from a chat connect one of each.

Salesforce facts are from Salesforce's developer docs, read October 3, 2026, and covered in the Salesforce MCP server review. Apollo and ZoomInfo facts are from each vendor's docs, read October 1, 2026: see the Apollo MCP server review, the ZoomInfo MCP server review and the Clay MCP server review. Security and permissions

HubSpot's controls sit in three places.

  • User permissions. Every action respects the user's HubSpot permissions. A rep sees and edits only the records they can see and edit in HubSpot.
  • Admin approval. A Super Admin picks the connector's data permissions and who can install it. Adding new objects later means the admin updates permissions and each user reconnects.
  • Audit log. Every create and update through the Claude connector is attributed to both the user and the connector in HubSpot's audit log, along with who connected and when.

Two more facts worth reading before rollout. The server never exposes custom Sensitive Data properties, such as health information. And HubSpot says it may collect summaries of tool calls, including the intent of the request and whether it succeeded, with names of people, companies and deals anonymized. Claude Enterprise admins can also restrict the connector to company Claude accounts on a verified domain.

Where Cleanlist AI fits

Cleanlist AI is the data side of the worked flow above: People Search across its people index, waterfall enrichment for work emails and phone numbers, two-way HubSpot sync on Pro, and an MCP server from Starter. Clu, Cleanlist AI's GTM agent, runs the same flow as a scheduled agent on Pro. Agents that run on a HubSpot trigger, such as a new contact, are on Pro as well. The box below is the disclosed vendor entry, with the numbers from Cleanlist AI's own facts file.

Our product

  • You want new contacts written straight into HubSpot by two-way sync on Pro
  • You want an agent to enrich every new HubSpot contact on a CRM trigger, which starts on Pro
Pairs with
  • HubSpot's own MCP server, for reading and updating the records you already have
  • HubSpot sequences or your current sequencer

Verdict

HubSpot's MCP server is the easiest CRM server to switch on: a connector in Claude or ChatGPT, a Super Admin approval and a sign-in, on every HubSpot plan. It is strong for pipeline questions, logging activity and small record updates. It is limited for anything bulk, it cannot delete, and it has no data of its own to prospect with. Pair it with a data server for new contacts, and keep writes on approval. Cleanlist AI's plans and MCP access are on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Does HubSpot have an official MCP server?

Yes. HubSpot hosts its MCP server at mcp.hubspot.com, and its connectors for Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Gemini run on it. HubSpot also has a local Developer MCP server for building apps through the HubSpot CLI.

Is the HubSpot connector for Claude free?

HubSpot lists it as available with all products and plans and names no separate charge. Claude itself needs a paid Anthropic subscription: Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise.

Can HubSpot MCP create and update contacts?

Yes. It creates and updates contacts, companies, deals, tickets, leads and custom objects, and logs calls, emails, meetings, notes and tasks. Through the Claude and ChatGPT connectors it writes 10 records at a time and asks for confirmation.

Can HubSpot MCP delete records?

No. HubSpot's connectors support view, create and update only. Deletes stay in HubSpot.

Can HubSpot MCP find new leads?

No. It works on the records already in your HubSpot account. To find people who are not in HubSpot yet, connect a data server beside it, such as Apollo's or ZoomInfo's.
