The short version
The Clearbit API still runs, but only for customers who already have it. HubSpot bought Clearbit in December 2023 and stopped selling standalone Clearbit subscriptions; API keys exist only for accounts created in 2023 or earlier. The free tools, including Clearbit Connect, ended on April 30, 2025, and the free Logo API shut down on December 8, 2025. HubSpot's replacement, Data Enrichment (launched as Breeze Intelligence), enriches records inside HubSpot and has no standalone API. We make Cleanlist AI, which also sells an enrichment API, so read this as a vendor's guide.
Facts checked October 16, 2026. Every fact here comes from Clearbit's help center and changelog, HubSpot's knowledge base and product catalog, and posts by HubSpot employees on HubSpot Community, read on October 16, 2026. The endpoint status table comes from requests we sent that day without an API key.
Can you still get a Clearbit API key?
Not as a new customer. Clearbit's help center says it is no longer offering new standalone Clearbit subscriptions, and its API key article says keys are available only for Clearbit accounts created in 2023 or earlier. New buyers are sent to HubSpot. Clearbit.com itself is now a one-page "Clearbit has joined HubSpot" site with a customer login, and its pricing page redirects to the homepage.
If your company had a paid Clearbit account before 2024, your key may still work; contract questions go to your Clearbit customer success manager.
What happened to Clearbit, and when?
| Date | What changed |
|---|---|
| December 4, 2023 | HubSpot completes its acquisition; Clearbit becomes a HubSpot subsidiary |
| March 1, 2024 | Batch Enrichment closes to new signups |
| 2024 | Accounts created from 2024 on get no API keys |
| September 18, 2024 | HubSpot launches Breeze Intelligence, its enrichment and buyer intent product |
| March 18, 2025 | The free Logo API (logo.clearbit.com) is deprecated |
| April 30, 2025 | Free tools end: the free platform, Weekly Visitor Report, TAM Calculator, Clearbit Connect, the free Slack integration, and the free tiers of the Name to Domain and Risk APIs |
| September 3, 2025 | Basic HubSpot enrichment stops using HubSpot Credits on paid plans |
| September 9, 2025 | The Autocomplete API's logo field starts returning null |
| December 8, 2025 | The Logo API shuts down (announced for December 1, then moved) |
No end-of-life date has been published for the paid Clearbit APIs: Enrichment (Person, Company, Combined), Reveal, Prospector and Discovery.
Does the Clearbit API still work for existing customers?
Yes, as of October 2026. Answering a question about the Streaming APIs in October 2025, a HubSpot employee wrote that the Person and Company APIs were not affected by the upcoming sunset and that Clearbit "continues to operate as a standalone product suite", with business as usual across paid services.
The public API reference is gone: dashboard.clearbit.com/docs now redirects to a login page. To see what still answers, we sent requests without a key on October 16, 2026. A route that exists returns 401 auth_required; a made-up path on the same host returns 404 unknown_route.
| Endpoint | Result on October 16, 2026 |
|---|---|
Combined, Person and Company enrichment (person.clearbit.com/v2, company.clearbit.com/v2) | Route answers; key required |
Name to Domain (company.clearbit.com/v1/domains/find) | Route answers; key required |
| Reveal, Prospector, Discovery and Risk | Routes answer; key required |
| Company and Person Streaming | Routes answer; key required |
Autocomplete (autocomplete.clearbit.com/v1/companies/suggest) | Open without a key; every result has "logo": null |
Logo (logo.clearbit.com) | Gone; the hostname no longer resolves |
Those paths come from Clearbit's older public docs. The current reference sits behind the login, so confirm the details there before you change a production integration.
Limits and billing for existing accounts, per Clearbit's help center:
- Rate limit: 600 requests a minute to each API, except Reveal and Streaming. For enrichment it is a soft limit: requests over it are queued at low priority, not rejected.
- What counts: one enrichment request is one call, and a unique lookup counts once per billing period.
- Credits: Prospector and Discovery cost 2 credits per record created; Reveal costs 0.1 credit per unique IP revealed. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over.
- Batch: $0.30 a row, only for accounts that signed up before March 1, 2024.
Clearbit does not publish list prices for its subscriptions. Our Clearbit pricing guide collects what is known.
What replaced the Clearbit Logo API?
HubSpot's developer team recommended logo.dev, which it called a free, high-quality logo-fetching service. The swap is one URL: replace https://logo.clearbit.com/:domain with https://img.logo.dev/:domain?token=YOUR_TOKEN. Logo.dev's free plan requires an attribution link and, per its pricing page, covers 500,000 logo requests a month. Logo.dev describes itself as built by members of the original Clearbit team; that is the vendor's own claim.
Paying Clearbit customers can still get logos through the logo attribute of the Company Enrichment API, though Clearbit says logos will not be developed further.
What does HubSpot offer instead of Clearbit enrichment?
HubSpot's Data Enrichment, launched in 2024 as Breeze Intelligence, fills company and contact properties on records inside a HubSpot account:
- Plans: included with paid Starter, Professional and Enterprise hubs; the free CRM is not listed.
- Cost: HubSpot's knowledge base says data enrichment does not consume HubSpot Credits. Smart properties, buyer intent and the Data agent do, at $0.010 a credit; intent costs 10 credits per company a month.
- Inputs: a company domain for companies; first name, last name and a business email for contacts.
- Volume: you can enroll up to 100 records at a time from an index page, plus segments, imports and workflows for larger runs.
What it does not do matters for developers. HubSpot documents no enrichment endpoint you can call from outside HubSpot with an email or a domain and get a profile back; enrichment runs on records already in your portal. And for Clearbit Connect's job, a HubSpot employee wrote in February 2025 that HubSpot does not provide contact email addresses.
What should you use instead of the Clearbit API?
Match the replacement to the job the Clearbit call did:
| Job Clearbit did | Replacement |
|---|---|
| Company logos | logo.dev, as HubSpot recommends |
| Enrich records that live in HubSpot | HubSpot Data Enrichment on a paid plan |
| Enrich from your own code: email or domain in, profile out | An enrichment API; see our comparison of data enrichment APIs |
| Find a person's work email (Clearbit Connect) | An email finder; HubSpot has none |
Cleanlist AI, disclosed. Our enrichment API runs each lookup through a waterfall of 25+ data providers and verifies every work email before returning it. It charges 1 credit per verified work email and 10 per phone number, and nothing when it finds nothing. API keys come with the Pro plan and Enterprise; the MCP server, which gives AI agents the same enrichment tools, is included from Starter. The data enrichment API explainer covers how this kind of API works, the Clearbit alternatives page compares the wider field, and switching from Clearbit walks through the move.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Clearbit API free?
No. The free tiers of the Name to Domain and Risk APIs ended on April 30, 2025, and the free Logo API shut down on December 8, 2025. The Autocomplete API is the exception: Clearbit's help center says it can still be used without an account or an API key, though it no longer returns logos.
Is Clearbit shutting down?
Not for existing paid customers, as far as anything published says. No end-of-life date exists for the paid APIs, and a HubSpot employee wrote in October 2025 that Clearbit continues as a standalone product suite. New subscriptions are closed, so the customer base can only shrink.
What happened to logo.clearbit.com?
It shut down on December 8, 2025, after a deprecation notice on March 18, 2025. The date was first announced as December 1. HubSpot points developers to logo.dev instead.
Does HubSpot have a data enrichment API?
Not one that works outside HubSpot. HubSpot's Data Enrichment fills properties on records in your HubSpot portal, including records created through forms and integrations, but HubSpot documents no endpoint that takes an email or a domain and returns a profile.
What is Breeze Intelligence called now?
Data Enrichment. A HubSpot employee wrote in May 2026 that Data Enrichment, formerly called Breeze Intelligence, is now included with paid plans. Buyer intent and the Data agent are priced separately in HubSpot Credits.
