A sales engagement platform runs a sales team's outbound: it sends emails from each rep's inbox, queues calls and LinkedIn steps on set days, and stops for any prospect who replies. The 10 worth a shortlist in 2026: Apollo (Basic $49 a seat a month billed annually, 240M+ contacts included), HubSpot Sales Hub (sequences from Professional, $90 a seat billed annually), Outreach and Salesloft (no list price; Vendr medians of $45,600 and $30,740 a year), lemlist (from $55 a user), Reply.io (from $49 a user), Amplemarket ($600 a month for 2 users), Klenty (from $50 a month), Outplay (free plan) and Instantly ($37.60 a month). Prices read on each vendor's page on October 3, 2026.

Disclosure: Cleanlist AI publishes this page. Its own product, Sequences, sits in a disclosed box after the ranking, and its plans are on the Cleanlist AI pricing page. Competitor prices come from each vendor's own pricing page, or from Vendr's purchase data where a vendor publishes no price, with the date read.

What is a sales engagement platform?

A sales engagement platform (SEP) is software that turns outreach into a repeatable sequence. A rep, a manager or an agent picks a list of prospects and a series of steps: emails, phone calls, LinkedIn actions and tasks, each on a set day. The platform sends the emails from the rep's own mailbox, puts the calls and manual steps in the rep's task queue, and ends the sequence for anyone who replies or books a meeting. Replies, calls and meetings are logged back to the CRM.

Sales engagement is the practice: every touch a seller has with a buyer before the first meeting. The platform is what schedules, sends and measures those touches. In 2026 three changes reshaped the category. Contact data moved inside the platform (Apollo, lemlist and Amplemarket all sell it). Cold email split off to flat-priced senders with unlimited inboxes (Instantly). And AI agents now research prospects, write the first draft and in some products send it: Outreach sells five named agents, HubSpot sells a Prospecting Agent at $1 a lead, and Reply.io sells Jason from $500 a month. The AI sales tools guide maps the AI side of the stack job by job.

Sales engagement platforms compared: price, channels, data, AI

The table below is the comparison most buyers need first: what one seat costs, how you have to buy it, which channels a sequence can use, whether contact data comes with it, and which AI agents are on the plan.

Vendr figures are medians of purchases Vendr recorded (Outreach: 917 purchases, $8,620 to $214,450; Salesloft: 708 purchases, $5,160 to $146,683; both updated February 2026), and they cover whole contracts, so they are not per-seat prices.

The 10 best sales engagement platforms in 2026

1. Outreach

Outreach sells four packages, Amplify Essentials, Core, Plus and Pro, and every one of them reads "Request pricing." The model is "Per user pricing. No platform fees," plus AI credits that rise from 10,000 on Essentials to 100,000 on Pro. Sequences start on Core, which adds "Multi-channel sequences," a dialer and the Revenue and Personalization agents to the Omni, Research and Deal agents in Essentials. Plus adds live coaching and deal health alerts. Pro adds forecast projection, scenario planning and territory management. Vendr puts the median Outreach contract at $45,600 a year across 917 purchases. The Outreach pricing guide walks through each package.

Best for: sales teams of roughly 50 reps and up that want sequences, calls, deals and forecasting on one contract.

2. Salesloft

Salesloft publishes no price; its pricing page is a "Talk to Sales" form. Its help center describes a cadence as "a repeatable, multi-step outreach sequence consisting of email, phone, other, and/or integration steps laid out over a series of days." Around Cadence, the platform sells conversation intelligence, deals, Rhythm, analytics and Clari Forecast, which Salesloft's site now presents as its forecasting product. Vendr reports a median of $30,740 a year across 708 purchases. The Salesloft pricing guide covers how those contracts are built.

Best for: mid-market sales teams that want cadences, conversation intelligence and the forecast from one vendor.

3. Apollo

Apollo is a 240M+ contact database with a sequencer on every plan. Free covers 2 sequences per team and 75 credits per seat a month. Basic is $49 per seat a month billed annually, or $65 monthly, with unlimited sequences, 250 email sends a day and a US dialer at 1 credit per 30 seconds. Professional is $79 annually or $99 monthly and adds unlimited daily sends, A/Z testing and Apollo's agents. An email costs 1 credit and a phone number 8. LinkedIn steps are tasks: Apollo's help center says it "doesn't automatically complete LinkedIn tasks for you."

Best for: founders and teams under 20 reps that want the contact data and the sequencer on one bill.

4. HubSpot Sales Hub

Sequences start on Sales Hub Professional: $100 per seat a month, or $90 billed annually, plus a $1,500 one-time onboarding fee. Professional allows 5,000 sequences per account and up to 500 email sends per user a day. Enterprise ($150 per seat a month, billed annually, with $3,500 onboarding) raises that to 1,000 and lets workflows enroll contacts in sequences. HubSpot notes that "LinkedIn actions require a Sales Navigator subscription." Calling comes with 500 minutes on Starter and 3,000 on Professional. The Prospecting Agent, available from Starter on HubSpot Credits, researches leads, drafts emails "in each rep's voice" and can run in a "fully autonomous mode" that sends without review. HubSpot charges $1 per lead it recommends outreach for.

Best for: teams whose CRM is already HubSpot and who want sequences, calls and the contact record in one place.

5. Reply.io

Reply.io sells two seat plans. Email Volume starts at $49 per user a month billed annually, with unlimited mailboxes and 1,000 active contacts a month; LinkedIn automation costs $69 a month per account and calls and SMS $29 per account on top. Multichannel starts at $89 per user a month billed annually and bundles email, LinkedIn, calls, SMS and semi-automated WhatsApp with unlimited active contacts and 10 mailboxes. Both include 50 live data credits a month. Jason, Reply.io's AI SDR, starts at $500 a month and finds prospects, writes messages and handles replies.

Best for: small teams that want email, LinkedIn and calls in one sequence at one fixed seat price.

6. lemlist

lemlist's Email plan is $69 per user a month, or $55 billed annually. Multichannel is $109, or $87 annually, and adds LinkedIn automation (profile visits, invitations, messages, voice notes and InMail), SMS, in-app calling with a power dialer and a WhatsApp add-on, with 5 senders per user. Both plans include lemlist's 650M+ lead database, an email and phone finder, lemAgent and its signal, enrichment and messaging agents. Data runs on credits, and lemlist says "$1 in credits covers 20 emails or 5 phone numbers."

Best for: founders and agencies whose outbound leans on personalized LinkedIn and email together.

7. Amplemarket

Amplemarket's Startup plan is $600 a month on an annual term with 2 users included. Growth (4 users) and Elite (10 users) are custom. Startup includes 27,000 contacts, 600 phone number credits a year, multichannel sequences, AI intent signals and Duo Copilot. Across the product, Amplemarket adds a parallel dialer, social automation and AI agents that "find buyers, research prospects, and personalize outreach," plus an MCP add-on for Claude and ChatGPT.

Best for: teams of 2 to 10 reps that want contact data, signals and sequences under one annual contract.

8. Klenty

Klenty's Starter plan is $50 a month billed annually, for 15,000 contacts and 75,000 emails a month, with no dialer. Growth is $70 per user a month billed annually and adds cold calling with 200 minutes, a click-to-call dialer, SMS and CRM integrations. Plus is $99 per user a month with 1,000 call minutes and 4,000 data credits for emails and phone numbers. A parallel and power dialer costs $45 per user a month on top. Klenty bills annually or quarterly.

Best for: SDR teams that call as much as they email.

9. Outplay

Outplay's permanent free plan is built around sequences: manual email, click-to-dial, 2,000 active prospects a month and 2 mailboxes. Starter is $39 a month billed annually for email outreach with an AI sequence writer. Growth is $89 per user a month billed annually and runs "email, phone, social & SMS" with unlimited sequences. Enterprise is $139 per user a month and adds a power dialer, voicemail and Slack integrations.

Best for: teams that want to start free and add phone and social steps later.

10. Instantly

Instantly prices cold email by sending volume. Growth is $47 a month, or $37.60 billed annually, with unlimited email accounts and warmup, 1,000 uploaded contacts and 5,000 emails a month. Hypergrowth is $97, or $77.60, for 25,000 contacts and 125,000 emails. Leads are a separate plan from $47 a month for 1,500 credits over a 450M+ database, and the $94 Starter bundle adds an AI Sales Agent.

Best for: founders and agencies sending cold email at volume from many inboxes.

Our product: Cleanlist AI Sequences

Cleanlist AI Sequences send email from each rep's own Gmail or Outlook, add LinkedIn profile visits, invitations and messages from the rep's own account, and queue call tasks and manual tasks. Waits count business days, so nothing goes out on a weekend. A reply ends the sequence for that lead and lands it in the inbox under Needs reply. Every lead is checked before the first step: a missing or unverified email, an unsubscribe or another active sequence keeps it out, with the reason next to the name.

The list comes from People Search over 1B+ profiles, and the emails and phone numbers come from a waterfall across 25+ providers, verified before the send. Clu, Cleanlist AI's GTM agent, can run the whole job on a schedule: find new people who match your ICP, enrich and verify them, add them to a sequence and post the run to Slack. Teams that already sequence in Outreach, Salesloft or lemlist can push verified leads there instead. See Sequences for the full product.

Our product

Cleanlist

Best for: B2B teams under 300 people who want verified emails and phone numbers from 25+ providers in one waterfall, paying only for results.

Cleanlist AI publishes this page. Accuracy figures are from our own benchmark, not a third-party test.

Clu, Cleanlist AI's GTM agent, turns one sentence into an agent that searches 1B+ profiles, enriches and verifies every person it finds, adds them to a sequence and posts each run to Slack, every week or on a CRM trigger.

Which sales engagement platform fits a team of 1 to 10?

The category's best-known names are built for large teams. Outreach and Salesloft sell through sales calls, and Vendr's low ends ($8,620 and $5,160 a year) show what a small contract costs before it grows. For 1 to 10 sellers, the choice comes down to the channels you need and whether the platform should supply the contacts.

A useful rule: a team of one to three should buy the platform that also supplies contacts, because buying data and sequencing separately doubles the tools and the bills. A team of five or more that already runs a CRM should buy the platform that writes cleanly into that CRM, because the activity history is what managers coach from.

Sales engagement vs sales automation vs CRM

The three overlap, and vendors use the words loosely, so it helps to split them by the job.

  • A CRM is the record: accounts, contacts, deals and every activity logged against them. HubSpot and Salesforce are CRMs first.
  • A sales engagement platform runs the touches before and around the deal: sequences, calls, LinkedIn steps and tasks, with reply detection and reporting by step.
  • Sales automation is the wider set of rules that move work without a person: routing a new lead, updating a field, creating a task, enrolling a contact in a sequence. CRMs, sales engagement platforms and workflow tools all do some of it.

HubSpot blurs the line most: Sales Hub Professional is a CRM with a sales engagement platform inside it. Apollo blurs it from the other side, with a light CRM and a contact database around its sequencer.

What does a sales engagement platform cost?

A sales engagement platform costs from $0 (Apollo Free, Outplay Free) to a five-figure annual contract. Self-serve seats run from $37.60 a month (Instantly Growth, flat) to $139 a user (Outplay Enterprise), and the sales-led platforms land at Vendr medians of $30,740 (Salesloft) and $45,600 (Outreach) a year. The seat is rarely the whole bill. Five costs sit around it:

  1. Onboarding fees. HubSpot Professional carries $1,500 one time; Enterprise $3,500.
  2. Contact data. Apollo charges 8 credits a phone number; lemlist sells data on credits; Amplemarket includes a fixed allowance.
  3. Channel add-ons. Reply.io's Email Volume plan adds LinkedIn at $69 a month per account and calls and SMS at $29.
  4. Dialers. Klenty's parallel and power dialer is $45 per user a month; Apollo's advanced dialer is a separate add-on.
  5. Contract terms. Amplemarket sells on an annual term; Apollo's Organization plan is annual only with 3 seats minimum.

Email, LinkedIn and calls in one sequence: what multichannel means in practice

"Multichannel" covers three channels that automate differently, and the difference decides which platform fits.

  • Email is fully automated. The platform sends from the rep's mailbox on schedule, detects replies and stops. The limits are deliverability ones: sends per mailbox per day (Apollo Basic caps at 250, HubSpot Professional at 500 per user) and how many mailboxes each seat gets.
  • LinkedIn is automated on some platforms and a reminder on others. Reply.io, lemlist and Outplay run LinkedIn steps from the rep's account; Amplemarket calls it social automation. Apollo makes LinkedIn steps manual tasks, and HubSpot routes LinkedIn actions through Sales Navigator. Automated steps run inside daily limits that protect the account.
  • Calls are always a person. The platform can dial (Apollo, Klenty, lemlist Multichannel, Amplemarket's parallel dialer) or put a call task in the queue with the number and a script.

A working multichannel sequence alternates the three so that each touch adds something the last one did not: day 1 email, day 2 LinkedIn profile visit and invitation, day 4 call task, day 6 follow-up email, day 9 LinkedIn message for those who accepted, day 12 call task, day 15 a short final email. The sales sequences guide lays out six complete sequences with day offsets and stop rules, from cold outbound to closed-lost re-engagement.

How to switch without losing your sequences and history

Switching sales engagement platforms goes wrong in three places: prospects get the same step twice, the activity history disappears, and a domain gets burned on day one. Plan about four weeks for a clean switch.

  1. Export what you wrote. Copy every template and the step order of each live sequence, and plan to rebuild the sequences by hand in the new platform.
  2. Let live sequences finish. Stop enrolling new prospects in the old platform, and let the in-flight ones run out. Two platforms emailing the same person is the mistake prospects notice first.
  3. Keep the history in the CRM. Make sure the old platform has logged every email, call and reply to HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive before you cancel. The CRM is where the history should live, whichever sequencer you use.
  4. Move the do-not-contact lists. Unsubscribes, bounced addresses and opted-out domains must be imported before the first send.
  5. Reconnect mailboxes slowly. Connect the same mailboxes to the new platform and ramp daily sends over the first two weeks.
  6. Check the contract dates. Annual terms at Amplemarket, Apollo Organization and most sales-led contracts mean the switch date is set by the renewal date.

Verdict: the best sales engagement platform by team

  • Founder or team under 20 reps, one bill: Apollo. Data, sequences and a dialer from $49 a seat billed annually.
  • Email plus automated LinkedIn on a small team: lemlist or Reply.io Multichannel, at $87 and $89 a user.
  • Already on HubSpot CRM: HubSpot Sales Hub Professional, if the $1,500 onboarding fits the budget.
  • Calling-heavy SDR team: Klenty Growth.
  • Large sales team with procurement: Outreach, or Salesloft if the forecast matters as much as the cadences.
  • Cold email at volume: Instantly.
  • Start free: Outplay Free or Apollo Free.

FAQ

What is the best sales engagement platform?

The best sales engagement platform depends on team size. Apollo is the best value for founders and teams under 20 reps because contact data and sequences come in one seat from $49 a month billed annually. lemlist and Reply.io are best for email plus automated LinkedIn on a small team. HubSpot Sales Hub Professional is best for teams already on HubSpot CRM. Outreach and Salesloft fit large sales teams that buy through procurement. Prices were read on each vendor's page on October 3, 2026.

What is a sales engagement platform used for?

A sales engagement platform is used to run outbound sequences: scheduled emails from the rep's own mailbox, LinkedIn steps, call tasks and manual tasks, spaced over days, that stop when a prospect replies or books a meeting. It also logs every touch to the CRM and reports which steps get replies.

How much does a sales engagement platform cost?

Sales engagement platforms cost from $0 (Apollo Free, Outplay Free) to five-figure annual contracts. Self-serve seats run from $37.60 a month (Instantly Growth, billed annually) to $139 a user (Outplay Enterprise). Outreach and Salesloft publish no price; Vendr reports median contracts of $45,600 and $30,740 a year. Budget for onboarding fees, contact data credits, LinkedIn or calling add-ons and annual terms on top of the seat.

How much does Salesforce sales engagement cost?

Salesforce does not list a separate Sales Engagement price on its Sales Cloud pricing page. The page lists Starter Suite at $25 per user a month, Pro Suite at $100, Core at $195, Advanced at $395 and Max at $550, with Pro Suite and above billed annually (read October 3, 2026). Teams on Salesforce often run Outreach, Salesloft or Apollo for sequences and sync activity back to Salesforce.

What is the difference between a sales engagement platform and a CRM?

A CRM holds the record of accounts, contacts, deals and activities. A sales engagement platform runs the outreach: sequences, calls, LinkedIn steps and tasks. The sales engagement platform writes its activity into the CRM. HubSpot Sales Hub Professional combines both in one product.

Which sales engagement platform is best for a small team?

For a team of 1 to 10, Apollo is the best fit when you also need contact data (Free, then $49 a seat billed annually). lemlist Multichannel ($87 a user) and Reply.io Multichannel ($89 a user) fit small teams that run email and LinkedIn together. Outplay has a free plan for teams that want to start at $0.

Do sales engagement platforms include contact data?

Some do. Apollo includes a 240M+ contact database, lemlist a 650M+ lead database on credits, Amplemarket 27,000 contacts a year on Startup, Klenty 4,000 data credits on Plus, and Reply.io 50 live data credits a month. Outreach, Salesloft and Outplay do not list contact data on their pricing pages, and Instantly sells leads as a separate plan from $47 a month.
