AI sales tools are software that uses AI models to do one job in the sales process faster: find people, fill in verified contact data, research accounts, write and send outreach, record calls, or keep the CRM and forecast current. The ones worth a shortlist in 2026: Apollo for AI search and sequences in one seat (Basic $49 per user a month billed annually), Cleanlist for verified emails and direct dials from a 25+ provider waterfall (from $79 a month), Clay for AI research agents (Launch $185 a month), Instantly for cold email (from $47 a month), Gong or Fathom for calls, and HubSpot or Salesforce for CRM AI. Prices checked October 1, 2026, unless a row names an earlier date.

Disclosure: Cleanlist publishes this page and is one of the 16 tools. Competitor prices come from each vendor's own pricing page, or from a named third party where the vendor publishes none, with the date we read it. Accuracy figures for Cleanlist are from our own benchmark.

What are AI sales tools?

AI sales tools are applications that put a language model or a predictive model inside a sales task a rep used to do by hand. There are six jobs: finding the right people, getting a verified email and phone number for each, researching the account, writing and sending the outreach, recording and summarizing calls, and keeping the CRM and forecast accurate. Some tools do one job well (Gong records calls, Instantly sends cold email). Others cover several at a shallower depth (Apollo searches, enriches and sends; HubSpot runs the CRM and adds agents on top). The AI changes how fast each step runs. It does not fix a bad market choice, and it does not make stale contact data accurate, so the data jobs come first.

What do GTM teams actually want from AI in 2026?

GTM teams want four things from AI in 2026. Better data: AI that writes a great email to an address that bounces is wasted, so verified emails and direct dials matter more than clever copy. More automation: research, CRM updates and call notes that happen without a rep typing them. People search in plain English: describe the buyer in a sentence and get a list back, in the app or inside Claude and ChatGPT. Fewer tools: the 2023 stack of eight point solutions is expensive, and every handoff between tools loses data. The rest of this guide is organized around those four wants, by the job each tool does.

What are the best AI sales tools in 2026?

The best AI sales tools in 2026, by job, are Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator and Cleanlist for people search; Cleanlist, Clay and Cognism for enrichment; Clay, ZoomInfo and Claude for account research; Instantly, Outreach and Salesloft for writing and sequencing; Gong, Fathom and Granola for calls; and HubSpot, Salesforce and Clari for CRM hygiene and forecasting. Most teams under 100 people need one tool from four of these six jobs.

What can AI be used for in sales?

AI can be used for six jobs in sales, and each one feeds the next:

  1. People search and list building. Type "Heads of RevOps at 50 to 300 person SaaS companies in the US" and the tool converts it into filters.
  2. Enrichment and data quality. The tool finds a verified work email and a direct dial for each person, often by trying several providers in turn.
  3. Account research. An agent reads the company's website, news and hiring pages and writes a short brief or a structured column.
  4. Writing and sequencing. The tool drafts personalized lines, schedules the steps and protects sender reputation.
  5. Conversation intelligence and call prep. Calls are recorded, transcribed and summarized, and the next call starts with the last one's notes.
  6. CRM hygiene and forecasting. Agents update fields after calls, flag stale deals and roll pipeline up into a forecast.

Jobs 3 to 6 act on the contact data from jobs 1 and 2, so start there.

Which AI tools find people and build lead lists?

AI people search tools turn a description of your buyer into a list. Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator and Cleanlist are the three to compare. You can also run them inside a chat assistant: Apollo, ZoomInfo, Clay and Cleanlist all run MCP servers, so you can prospect in Claude by asking for a list in a sentence. Our Claude for sales guide walks through that setup, and the MCP servers for sales comparison lists every server with its plan gate.

Apollo

Apollo's AI page promises to "pull lead lists with natural language, not filters," and Apollo puts its database at 240M+ verified B2B contacts. One Apollo seat also drafts emails, runs sequences and dials. Apollo charges 1 credit for an email and 8 for a phone number. The Free plan gives 75 credits per seat a month; Basic is $49 per user a month billed annually or $65 monthly (read September 1, 2026). Apollo's MCP server at mcp.apollo.io/mcp works on any plan, including free, and can add contacts to sequences from a chat. Apollo wins this job for a founder or small team that wants one bill.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator

LinkedIn Sales Navigator searches LinkedIn's own member graph, which makes it the freshest source for who works where. LinkedIn lists three AI features: Account IQ "instantly summarizes account activity and earnings calls," Lead IQ "identifies relationship paths and lookalike leads," and Message Assist, in public beta, "drafts and refines personalized outreach." Core costs $119.99 a month, or $1,079.88 a year per license; Advanced is $159.99 a month (read October 1, 2026). Sales Navigator does not export emails or phone numbers, so most teams pair it with an enrichment tool. It wins for reps whose outreach happens on LinkedIn itself.

Cleanlist (our product)

Our product

Cleanlist

Cleanlist publishes this page. Accuracy figures are from our own benchmark, not a third-party test.

Cleanlist: best for teams that want AI people search and verified contact data from one waterfall, in the app or inside Claude. Cleanlist runs waterfall enrichment across 25+ data providers in sequence and stops at the first verified hit, at 1 credit per verified work email and 10 per direct dial. Search is free and unlimited, and a miss costs nothing. It returns 98% verified work email and 85% direct dial on the Cleanlist 500-Lead Enrichment Benchmark, which is our own test run on a 500-lead sample. Plans start at $79 a month with 2 seats included.

Plans

Free plan 30 credits a month. Starter $79, Pro $229, Scale $599 a month. 25% off on annual billing.

Credits
  • Verified work email1
  • Direct dial10
  • Both on one row11
  • Validation0.5
  • AI qualification5
Trial

14 days on Scale, 250 credits, 3 seats.

Fits when
  • You need work email and direct dial on the same row, verified, not two exports you reconcile by hand
  • You want the finished list written straight into HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or pushed to Outreach, Salesloft, Lemlist rather than downloaded as a CSV you re-upload
Pairs with
  • Your sequencer or inbox. Cleanlist prepares and syncs the list; it does not send the email
  • Your intent or signal vendor, if buying-stage scoring is part of your motion

Cleanlist's AI Search (Starter and up) turns a plain-English description into a People Search, which costs 0 credits to run. The same search and enrichment work inside Claude through Cleanlist's remote MCP server at mcp.cleanlist.ai/v1/mcp, with 30+ tools. Today you add it as a custom connector and paste Cleanlist's OAuth client ID in the connector's advanced settings; it is not in Claude's directory yet. MCP is included from Starter. The 14-day trial and the Free plan do not include MCP or the public API. Cleanlist has no built-in sequencer today, no intent data and no technographic filters.

Which AI tools give you verified emails and direct dials?

The AI prospecting tools that return verified B2B emails and phone numbers, and publish how they charge for them, are Cleanlist, Clay and Cognism, with Apollo and ZoomInfo doing it from their own databases. "Legit" here has a testable meaning: the tool verifies the email before it charges you, says what one credit buys, and lets you run a sample of your own records before you sign. Waterfall tools such as Cleanlist and Clay try several providers in turn until one returns a verified result, which raises coverage on hard-to-find contacts. A single database returns what it holds for your segment. Whichever you shortlist, run 100 of your real records through two tools and compare bounce rates.

Cleanlist

Cleanlist tries 25+ providers per record and charges only for a verified result: 1 credit per work email, 10 per direct dial. Finished lists sync two ways to HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive on Pro and Scale. Cleanlist wins enrichment for teams under 300 people that want both contact fields on the same row.

Clay

Clay is a spreadsheet that calls data providers and AI models in each column. Its pricing page lists data from 150+ providers, and you build the waterfall order yourself. Clay's Free plan includes 500 actions and 100 data credits a month; Launch is $185 a month, or $167 on annual billing, and Growth is $495 (read October 1, 2026). Our Clay pricing breakdown explains its two meters. Clay wins for RevOps teams that want to control every step and have someone to maintain the tables.

Cognism

Cognism is a B2B contact database known for European coverage and what it calls Diamond Data, mobile numbers it says are verified by phone. It adds AI-assisted search on top. Cognism publishes no price: its page lists Standard and Pro packages and states "1 credit = 1 revealed contact" (read September 1, 2026). Cognism wins for teams whose pipeline depends on calling the UK and continental Europe and who can sign an annual contract.

Which AI tools research accounts before a call?

AI account research tools read what is public about a company and hand the rep a summary. Clay, ZoomInfo and Claude lead this job at very different prices.

Clay (Claygent)

Clay says its Claygent agents "take inputs, follow your instructions, and write a structured output" into a table column, so you can ask 500 companies "Do they sell to hospitals?" and get 500 answers. Clay's MCP server brings this into Claude and ChatGPT; Clay's docs say a typical interaction uses 20 to 100 credits. Clay wins research at list scale.

ZoomInfo Copilot

ZoomInfo describes Copilot as "an AI-powered pipeline engine that automates prospecting, personalizes outreach, and manages follow-ups," built on ZoomInfo's contact data and intent signals. ZoomInfo's MCP server comes with every subscription at no extra cost. ZoomInfo publishes no list price; Vendr reports a median contract of $33,500 a year across 1,574 recorded purchases (re-read October 1, 2026). ZoomInfo wins for enterprise teams that already buy intent data.

Claude

Claude reads a prospect's website, press releases and job posts and writes a one-page account brief or a call plan in seconds. Connect a data vendor's MCP server and the same chat can search people and enrich them, which turns research and list building into one conversation. Claude Pro is $20 a month, or $17 a month billed annually; a Team standard seat is $25 a month, or $20 annually (read October 1, 2026). Claude wins for founders and small teams that want one assistant for research, writing and prep. It holds no verified contact data of its own, so without a data connector any email it gives you is a guess.

Which AI tools write and send sales sequences?

AI writing and sequencing tools draft the message, schedule the steps and keep inboxes healthy. Instantly leads for cold email volume, Outreach and Salesloft for larger teams that run calls and email from one platform. Software that runs outbound on its own, the AI SDR category, is a separate buy covered in our AI SDR tools guide.

Instantly

Instantly combines cold email sending, inbox warmup, AI-written copy and a lead finder. Growth is $47 a month, or $37.60 on annual billing; lead finder credits are a separate plan from $47 a month (read October 1, 2026). Instantly wins for solo founders and agencies sending at volume from many inboxes.

Outreach

Outreach is a sales engagement platform that bills seat licenses plus consumption-based AI credits for its agents. Outreach publishes no price: every package on its pricing page ends in "Request pricing." Vendr's buyer data shows a median of $45,600 a year across 914 purchases (read September 1, 2026). Outreach wins for large sales teams that want sequencing and deal management on one platform.

Salesloft

Salesloft runs cadences across email and phone, and its site now presents Clari Forecast as its forecasting product. Salesloft publishes no price; Vendr reports a median of $30,740 a year across 704 purchases (read September 1, 2026). Salesloft wins for mid-market teams that want cadences and a forecast from one vendor.

Which AI tools record calls and help reps prepare?

Conversation intelligence tools record, transcribe and summarize calls, then carry the notes into the next meeting and the CRM. Gong leads for teams that coach reps on calls; Fathom and Granola cover the same basics for a fraction of the cost.

Gong

Gong records and analyzes sales calls, emails and deal activity to show which deals are at risk and what the best reps do differently. Gong publishes no price: it charges per user plus a platform fee, and quotes through a form (gong.io/pricing, read October 1, 2026). Vendr reports a median of $55,346 a year across 1,144 purchases, ranging from $11,491 to $203,767 (guide updated March 2026, read October 1). Gong wins for sales teams of roughly 20 reps or more with a manager who coaches from call data.

Fathom

Fathom records and summarizes meetings and pushes action items out. The Free plan is free forever. Team is $19 per user a month, or $15 billed annually, with a two-user minimum; Business is $34, or $25 annually, and adds CRM field sync after meetings and AI scorecards (read October 1, 2026). Fathom wins for small sales teams that want accurate notes in HubSpot or Salesforce without a Gong contract.

Granola

Granola is an AI notepad that takes your notes during a call and fills them out from the transcript, without a bot joining the meeting. Basic is free, Business is $14 per user a month, and Enterprise is $35 (read October 1, 2026). Granola wins for founders running their own discovery calls who want clean notes and a quick prep sheet before the next one.

Which AI tools keep the CRM clean and forecast pipeline?

CRM AI keeps records current without a rep typing, and forecasting AI turns pipeline into a number. HubSpot and Salesforce build agents into the CRM; Clari specializes in the forecast.

HubSpot Sales Hub (Breeze)

HubSpot's Data Agent "tracks buying signals, finds good-fit companies, and updates your data using information in your CRM and the web," and its Prospecting Agent "researches and delivers personalized outreach strategies per lead." Both are available from Starter. Sales Hub is free for up to 2 users; Starter is $20 per seat a month, or $7 billed annually; Professional is $100, or $90 annually, plus a $1,500 one-time onboarding fee, and adds forecasting (read October 1, 2026). Agents draw on included HubSpot Credits. HubSpot wins for SMBs that want CRM, sequences and AI in one bill.

Salesforce Sales Cloud (Agentforce)

Salesforce sells Agentforce as AI agents inside Sales Cloud. The Starter Suite is $25 per user a month; the Pro Suite is $100 per user a month billed annually and includes forecasting; Agentforce can be added to Core ($195) and above, and Max ($550) includes Agentforce for Sales (read October 1, 2026). Salesforce wins for teams already running on it, where the data and the agent share one system.

Clari

Clari builds the forecast from pipeline and activity data and shows where the quarter will land. Clari publishes no price, and clari.com/pricing redirected to Salesloft's site when we read it on October 1, 2026, where Clari Forecast is listed as Salesloft's forecasting product. Clari wins for revenue leaders running a weekly forecast call across several teams.

Which AI sales tools can you consolidate?

You can consolidate people search, enrichment and the CRM write into one data tool, and you can consolidate the CRM, light sequencing and call notes into one platform. Calls at coaching depth and cold email at volume usually stay separate.

JobTools that cover itCan one tool cover it with another job?
People searchApollo, Sales Navigator, Cleanlist, Clay, ZoomInfoYes: Apollo, Cleanlist and Clay pair it with enrichment
EnrichmentCleanlist, Clay, Cognism, Apollo, ZoomInfoYes: same tool as search
Account researchClay, ZoomInfo, Claude, HubSpot Prospecting AgentPartly: Claude with a data MCP covers research and search in one chat
Writing and sequencingInstantly, Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo, HubSpotYes for light volume (Apollo, HubSpot); high volume stays with Instantly
CallsGong, Fathom, GranolaUsually separate; Fathom Business syncs fields into the CRM
CRM and forecastingHubSpot, Salesforce, ClariYes: the CRM covers both up to mid-market

Three consolidated stacks, by team size:

  • Two tools for a founder-led team: Apollo for search, data and sequences, plus Fathom or Granola for calls. Add Cleanlist when bounce rates or missing phone numbers start costing meetings.
  • Four tools for a 5 to 20 rep team: HubSpot Sales Hub as CRM and sequencer, Cleanlist for search and verified data written straight into HubSpot, Instantly if you send cold email at volume, Fathom for calls.
  • Enterprise: Salesforce, ZoomInfo, Outreach or Salesloft with Clari, and Gong. Fewer vendors are possible at this size, but each one is a separate procurement.

What is the best AI for sales people?

The best AI for a sales person is the one that removes the task eating most of their week. List building: Apollo or Cleanlist. Bounced emails and switchboard numbers: Cleanlist. Call prep: Claude for research, Granola or Fathom for notes. Coaching and forecasting: Gong, HubSpot or Salesforce. By team:

  • Solo founder: Claude Pro plus Apollo Free, then Cleanlist Starter when you need verified direct dials.
  • 5 to 20 rep team: HubSpot, Cleanlist and Fathom. Cleanlist bundles seats (2 on Starter, 5 on Pro, 10 on Scale), and an extra seat is $20 a month.
  • RevOps with a CRM: Clay for custom research and enrichment logic.
  • API or dev team: Cleanlist's REST API from Pro, or Clay's HTTP columns; our sales prospecting tools guide covers the data side in depth.
  • Selling into Europe: Cognism.
  • Enterprise: ZoomInfo, Outreach or Salesloft, Gong.

The five AI sales tools Google's AI Overview for "ai sales tools" named on October 1, 2026 were Apollo, Clay, Instantly, HubSpot and Outreach. Apollo for AI search and sequences, at $49 per user a month on annual billing. Clay for AI research agents, from $185 a month. Instantly for cold email, from $47 a month. HubSpot Sales Hub for CRM agents, from $20 per seat a month. Outreach for sequencing at scale, with a Vendr median of $45,600 a year. The same answer named Gong for calls and Salesforce Agentforce for CRM AI.

How do Apollo, ZoomInfo, Clay, Gong and Outreach compare as AI sales companies?

Apollo, ZoomInfo, Clay, Gong and Outreach do different jobs. Apollo and ZoomInfo are data platforms with AI search: Apollo is self-serve from $0, ZoomInfo sells enterprise contracts (Vendr median $33,500 a year). Clay is a research and enrichment workbench from $185 a month. Gong analyzes calls (Vendr median $55,346), and Outreach runs sequences (Vendr median $45,600). A mid-market stack usually buys one of each kind. See Apollo vs ZoomInfo for the two data platforms side by side.

How much do AI sales tools cost?

AI sales tools cost from $0 to more than $50,000 a year, depending on the job. Free plans exist at Apollo, Clay, Fathom, Granola, HubSpot and Claude. Self-serve paid entry points: Granola $14 per user a month, Fathom Team $15 annual, Claude Pro $17 annual, HubSpot Starter $20 monthly, Salesforce Starter Suite $25, Instantly $47, Apollo Basic $49 annual, Cleanlist Starter $79 with 1,500 credits, Sales Navigator Core $119.99 and Clay Launch $185.
