TL;DR
Clearout's cheapest paid plan is Starter at $23 a month for 3,000 credits, which is $0.0077 per email verification, or $192 a year for the same 3,000 a month, which is $0.0053. Pro runs from $58 a month for 10,000 credits to $4,950 for 5,000,000. Signup gives 100 free credits with no card and no expiry. Credits never expire and unused ones roll over. The annual tab is advertised as "Save 20%", but against monthly billing it is worth 30% to 73% depending on tier. All figures read from clearout.io/pricing on September 1, 2026. Last updated: September 1, 2026. Every Clearout number below was read on September 1, 2026 from clearout.io/pricing and clearout.io/pricing-guide. The pricing page renders its plans from Clearout's own public product endpoint at api.clearout.io/public/products, so the figures here are the same ones the page paints, down to the fraction of a cent.
Clearout is an email verification and finding tool. It scrubs lists you already have and finds addresses for people you can already name. Cleanlist sits upstream of that and builds the list in the first place. The two meters are not interchangeable, and this guide says plainly where Clearout is the better purchase.
How much does Clearout cost in 2026?
Clearout costs $23 a month for the Starter plan with 3,000 credits a month, or $192 a year for the same allowance, which works out to $16 a month (clearout.io/pricing, September 1, 2026). Above Starter, every tier is called Pro and is sold by credit volume, from $58 a month for 10,000 credits up to $4,950 a month for 5,000,000. There is also a permanent free allowance of 100 credits at signup, one time, no card, no expiry. One credit verifies one email address, so the entry cost per verification is $0.0077 monthly and $0.0053 annual. Cleanlist prices differently, at $79, $229 and $599 a month for 1,500, 5,000 and 15,000 credits, because it is buying data rather than checking it.
What do the Clearout monthly plans cost?
Every monthly plan renews its credit allowance each month, and unused credits roll over rather than resetting. Read from clearout.io/pricing on September 1, 2026:
| Plan | Credits per month | Price per month | Cost per credit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freemium | 100, one time | $0 | Free |
| Starter | 3,000 | $23 | $0.00767 |
| Pro | 10,000 | $58 | $0.00580 |
| Pro | 25,000 | $146 | $0.00584 |
| Pro | 50,000 | $292 | $0.00584 |
| Pro | 100,000 | $360 | $0.00360 |
| Pro | 250,000 | $675 | $0.00270 |
| Pro | 500,000 | $900 | $0.00180 |
| Pro | 1,000,000 | $1,260 | $0.00126 |
| Pro | 5,000,000 | $4,950 | $0.00099 |
Note the flat spot. On monthly billing, 25,000 and 50,000 credits both cost $0.00584 each, marginally more per credit than the 10,000 plan at $0.00580. Buying more does not get cheaper again until the 100,000 tier. If you are sizing between 10,000 and 50,000 a month, the per-credit price is not a reason to size up. Cleanlist's ladder moves the other way and stays monotonic: $0.053 a credit on Starter, $0.046 on Pro, $0.040 on Scale, before the 25% annual discount.
What do the Clearout annual plans cost?
The annual prices are yearly totals for the same monthly allowance, and they are the best value on the page by a wide margin:
| Plan | Credits per month | Price per year | Monthly equivalent | Cost per credit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 3,000 | $192 | $16.00 | $0.00533 |
| Pro | 10,000 | $384 | $32.00 | $0.00320 |
| Pro | 25,000 | $720 | $60.00 | $0.00240 |
| Pro | 50,000 | $960 | $80.00 | $0.00160 |
| Pro | 100,000 | $1,344 | $112.00 | $0.00112 |
| Pro | 250,000 | $3,360 | $280.00 | $0.00112 |
| Pro | 500,000 | $5,280 | $440.00 | $0.00088 |
| Pro | 1,000,000 | $9,600 | $800.00 | $0.00080 |
| Pro | 5,000,000 | $48,000 | $4,000.00 | $0.00080 |
The annual ladder is monotonic where the monthly one is not, and the cheapest credit on the page is $0.0008. Cleanlist's annual pricing works the same way but on a much higher unit, because it is buying data rather than checking it: $711 a year on Starter, $2,061 on Pro and $5,391 on Scale, which is about $0.0395, $0.0344 and $0.0299 a credit.
Is the Clearout annual discount really 20%?
The badge on the annual tab reads "Save 20%" with a tooltip saying "20% less than One Time", and that claim checks out exactly: annual is priced at precisely 80% of the pay-as-you-go slab rate for the same yearly volume, at every tier from 10,000 credits up. What the badge does not tell you is the discount against monthly billing, which is much larger. Starter annual is 30.4% below twelve monthly payments. Pro 10,000 is 44.8% below. Pro 50,000 is 72.6% below, $960 a year against $3,504. Pro 5,000,000 is the smallest gap at 19.2%. If you are on a Clearout monthly plan in the 25,000 to 100,000 range, moving to annual is the single largest saving available on this vendor, and the page understates it. Cleanlist's annual discount is a flat 25% on every plan, which is smaller but easier to model.
What is Clearout's pay-as-you-go price?
Pay-as-you-go is a one-time credit purchase with volume slabs, priced above both subscription options. From clearout.io/pricing on September 1, 2026: $0.008 per credit for 1 to 9,999, $0.0065 for 10,000 to 99,999, $0.004 for 100,000 to 249,999, $0.003 for 250,000 to 499,999, $0.002 for 500,000 to 999,999, $0.0014 for 1,000,000 to 4,999,999, $0.0011 for 5,000,000 to 9,999,999, and $0.001 above 10,000,000. There is a contradiction worth knowing: the pricing guide states pay-as-you-go is "no longer available for new users", while the pricing page still renders a One Time tab and the product is still live in Clearout's public product feed. Ask before you plan around it. Cleanlist sells no pay-as-you-go pack at all: credits arrive with the plan, 1,500 on Starter, 5,000 on Pro, 15,000 on Scale.
What is metered on Clearout, and what runs out?
Credits, and they are consumed at different rates per product. Clearout publishes the table (clearout.io/pricing-guide, September 1, 2026): Email Verifier costs 1 credit per valid, invalid or catch-all result; Email Finder costs 4 credits for a non-role address and 2 for a role-based one; Form Guard costs 2 credits per validation; Data Pulse costs 2 credits per contact field validated; Prospect costs 4 credits non-role, 2 role-based, and 2 per phone number. Credits do not reset monthly, unused credits roll over, and purchased credits never expire. Cleanlist's meter is simpler and priced higher because it is buying rather than checking, through waterfall enrichment: 1 credit for a verified email, 10 for a direct dial, 11 for both, 1 for a company enrichment, and 0 credits for search. Cleanlist also runs email verification on syntax, DNS and MX, SMTP and catch-all.
What is the Clearout seat minimum?
There is none, because Clearout does not price by seat. The plan price is set by credit volume and does not change with headcount. Extra collaborators are sold as an add-on, listed at $25 per additional seat, and Clearout does not publish how many seats a plan includes or whether that $25 is monthly or one-time (clearout.io/pricing, September 1, 2026). Ask before you assume. Cleanlist includes seats in the plan: 2 on Starter, 5 on Pro, 10 on Scale, 3 during the trial, with an extra seat at $20 a month at the published rate.
What are the hidden costs of Clearout?
The add-on catalogue, which does not appear until you look for it. Clearout publishes eight paid add-ons on top of the plan price (clearout.io/pricing, September 1, 2026): Auto Credit Replenishment starting at $40 for 5,000 credits; Parallel Bulk Email Verify Run at $49 a month per additional parallel run; Email Verifier API Rate Limit at $99 a month per additional 100 requests per minute; Parallel Bulk Email Finder Run at $49 a month; Email Finder API Rate Limit at $99 a month per additional 100 RPM; Parallel Bulk Prospect Enrich Run at $49 a month; Team Account Member Seat Limit at $25 per additional seat; and Allow / Block Domain Limit at $49 per additional 100 domains. Throughput, not credits, is what most teams end up buying twice. Cleanlist has no add-on catalogue: the plan price covers throughput, seats beyond the included count are $20 a month, and there is nothing else to buy.
What is the Clearout contract term?
There is no lock-in on the monthly plan and no term to negotiate. Three billing shapes exist: annual subscription paid once a year, monthly subscription, and the one-time pay-as-you-go purchase. Because credits never expire and unused ones carry forward, an annual commitment carries less risk here than it does on a vendor whose credits reset, which is unusual and genuinely in Clearout's favour. Auto Credit Replenishment has a stated minimum of 5,000 credits per top-up (clearout.io/pricing-guide, September 1, 2026). Cleanlist bills month to month by default with the same rollover-free simplicity in the other direction: credits reset monthly, and the 25% annual discount is optional.
How does Clearout compare per verified contact?
Straight answer: for verifying addresses you already hold, Clearout is far cheaper than Cleanlist and it is not close. Clearout charges $0.0053 per verification on Starter annual and $0.0032 on Pro 10,000 annual. Cleanlist's cheapest credit is about $0.030 on Scale annual. That gap exists because the two products do different work. Clearout checks whether an address you supply is deliverable. Cleanlist: Best for teams that need the address found rather than checked. It runs waterfall enrichment across 25+ providers and charges 1 credit per verified email and 10 per direct dial, with search costing nothing, starting at $79/month. In the Cleanlist 500-Lead Enrichment Benchmark, 2026, that waterfall returned 98% verified email and 85% direct dial across 500 stratified B2B leads, where single-source providers returned 70-80% email and 30-60% phone on identical input.
Clearout or Cleanlist: which should you buy?
Buy Clearout if you already own the list. If your job is scrubbing an inherited CRM export, cleaning a webinar registration file or gating a signup form against disposable addresses, Clearout does that job at a hundredth of the cost of an enrichment platform and the credits never expire while you get around to it. Buy Cleanlist if you do not own the list yet, or if the emails you hold are missing entirely rather than merely stale, because verification cannot manufacture an address that was never there. That is the shape of most CRM cleanup projects once the audit is done. Many teams buy both, and that is a reasonable outcome rather than a failure of shortlisting. Cleanlist: Best for teams whose contacts are missing rather than stale. It runs waterfall enrichment across 25+ providers and charges 1 credit per verified email and 10 per direct dial, with search costing nothing, starting at $79/month.
Who should buy Clearout, and who should not?
Buy Clearout if verification volume is your cost centre, if you want API-grade throughput and are willing to pay $99 a month for each extra 100 RPM, or if you need credits that survive a slow quarter. The 100 free credits at signup with no card make it trivially easy to test against your own file before spending anything. Do not buy Clearout expecting list building: Prospect and Email Finder need a name and a domain to start, so they extend a list rather than create one. Do not buy the monthly plan if you can forecast a year, because the annual price at the 50,000 tier is 72.6% lower for identical credits. And do not size between 10,000 and 50,000 credits on monthly billing expecting a volume break, because there is not one. If the job turns out to be finding addresses rather than checking them, that is where Cleanlist's 25+ provider waterfall applies, at 1 credit per verified email from $79 a month.
