The short version

The ZoomInfo API now lives at GTM.AI, ZoomInfo's developer product, generally available since June 1, 2026. It is a REST API at api.zoominfo.com/gtm with OAuth 2.0, and since July 27, 2026 it is open to every ZoomInfo customer, including trial accounts. Search is free; enriching a record costs 1 data credit, and re-enriching it within 12 months is free on enterprise contracts. Self-serve data credits cost $0.38 each at the $1,000 spend tier, and new GTM.AI accounts start with 1,000 data credits and 1,000 AI credits. Rate limits run from 5 to 35 requests a second by plan. The old API at api-docs.zoominfo.com is being deprecated. We make Cleanlist AI, which also has an enrichment API, so read this as a vendor's guide.

Facts checked October 16, 2026. Every ZoomInfo fact on this page comes from ZoomInfo's press releases, its developer docs at docs.gtm.ai and gtm.ai/docs, and the GTM.AI pricing page, read on October 16, 2026. We did not test ZoomInfo's data through the API for this guide, so there are no accuracy numbers here.

What is the ZoomInfo API now?

The ZoomInfo API is the programmatic way into ZoomInfo's company and contact data, and in 2026 it sits under GTM.AI, which ZoomInfo describes as its headless GTM context layer and the API and MCP home for AI agents. The company is still ZoomInfo; its stock ticker changed from ZI to GTM on May 12, 2025, and docs.zoominfo.com now redirects to docs.gtm.ai.

Three things share the backend and the credit pools: the REST API, the ZoomInfo MCP server at mcp.zoominfo.com/mcp, and the open-source gtm command-line tool. Our GTM.AI explainer covers the product side.

Is the old ZoomInfo API still supported?

It still answers, but new work should not start there. The reference at api-docs.zoominfo.com, which Google ranks first for "zoominfo api", is titled "ZoomInfo API - Legacy", and ZoomInfo says it is in the process of being deprecated and that all new development should use the new API. No shutdown date is published.

How do I get ZoomInfo API access?

Create an app, then authenticate it with OAuth 2.0:

  1. Get a license with API access. ZoomInfo's docs say building an app requires a GTM.AI or Enterprise license with API access. Enterprise customers create apps in the Developer Portal; self-serve accounts use the Developer tab on GTM.AI.
  2. Pick the flow. Server-to-server jobs use the client credentials flow, exchanging a client ID and secret for an access token at POST https://api.zoominfo.com/gtm/oauth/v1/token, attributed to an integration user you choose. Partner apps must use the authorization code flow with PKCE.
  3. Request scopes. Data scopes include api:data:company, api:data:contact, api:data:intent, api:data:news and api:data:scoops.
  4. Handle refresh. Refresh tokens rotate: each can be used only once.

ZoomInfo warns that the portal's quick test token makes real production requests that consume credits.

Which endpoints does the ZoomInfo API have?

The Data API v1 endpoints most integrations use, all POST under https://api.zoominfo.com/gtm:

EndpointPathNotes
Contact search/data/v1/contacts/searchFree; returns no emails or phone numbers, only hints that ZoomInfo has them
Company search/data/v1/companies/searchFree
Contact enrich/data/v1/contacts/enrichUp to 25 records per call
Company enrich/data/v1/companies/enrichUp to 25 records per call
Intent search and enrich/data/v1/intent/search, /data/v1/intent/enrichNeeds the Intent add-on; 1 to 50 topics
Scoops and news/data/v1/scoops/search, /data/v1/news/searchEnrich variants exist too

GET /data/v1/users/usage returns your usage and limits. Search pages hold up to 100 results and the page number caps at 100. Beyond the Data API, the docs list Context, GTM Studio, Marketing, Platform and Agent APIs, plus vertical datasets such as job posts and earnings calls. Search rejects unknown industry, metro or topic strings, so read the lookup endpoints first.

How much does the ZoomInfo API cost?

Searching is free and enriching costs credits:

  • Enrich: 1 data credit per new company or contact record. No match means no charge.
  • Re-enrich: a record stays "under management" for 12 months, so enriching it again in that window is free on enterprise contracts. GTM.AI's pricing FAQ says this does not apply to the free tier.
  • Signals: intent signals and scoops are free to search but count against your record limit; intent enrich charges a credit for the company plus records per signal.
  • AI tools: account and contact research use AI credits, most calls 5 to 15.

Self-serve prices on gtm.ai/pricing (read October 16, 2026): data credits at $0.38 each on the $1,000 spend tier, with the price per credit falling as spend rises; AI credits at a flat $0.05; top-ups from $20; no seat fees. New accounts start with 1,000 data credits and 1,000 AI credits. Enterprise pricing is not published, and enterprise packages are where mobile phone data is listed. The ZoomInfo pricing guide covers the platform plans.

One gotcha for older contracts: ZoomInfo says the MCP server cannot draw from recurring monthly credits, only from pooled data credits. The pricing page also contradicts itself on expiry, saying credits never expire while the account is active in one place and 12 months after grant in its FAQ, so confirm that in writing.

What are the ZoomInfo API rate limits?

Three windows are enforced at once, per package, as of ZoomInfo's rate limits page updated October 4, 2026:

PackagePer secondPer hourPer day
Builder510,800129,600
Standard2554,000648,000
Scaling3575,600907,200

Going over returns 429 with a Retry-After header and an X-RateLimit-Rejected-Bucket header naming the window you hit; rejected requests do not consume quota. Every response carries X-RateLimit-Remaining-Second, -Hour and -Day. The older X-RateLimit-Limit and X-RateLimit-Remaining headers will be removed on January 1, 2027. The free GTM.AI tier runs at 5 requests a second, matching Builder.

What can't the ZoomInfo API do?

  • Search does not return contact data. Every email and phone number goes through enrich and its credits.
  • Fields depend on your package. ZoomInfo's docs say different packages return different fields, and intent needs a separate add-on.
  • MCP data cannot train models. ZoomInfo prohibits using data accessed through its MCP server for AI model training.
  • The MCP server does not do bulk. It enriches 10 records per call against the API's 25, and ZoomInfo says it does not write to your CRM or run batch enrichment pipelines.
  • Storage and caching terms are not public. ZoomInfo's docs suggest caching enriched IDs for the 12-month window; the formal data-use terms sit in your contract.

When does a waterfall enrichment API fit better?

Cleanlist AI publishes this page, so treat this section as a disclosed vendor entry. Cleanlist AI's enrichment API runs every lookup through a waterfall of 25+ data providers and verifies each work email before returning it.

Pick ZoomInfo's API if you already license ZoomInfo and want its intent, scoops and org charts in your own systems. Pick Cleanlist AI's if the job is filling records with verified emails and phone numbers that a single database leaves empty, priced per result. The data enrichment API explainer covers how this kind of API works, and plans are on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Is the ZoomInfo API free?

Partly. GTM.AI's free tier includes API, MCP and CLI access with 1,000 data credits and 1,000 AI credits at signup, at 5 requests a second. After that, data credits are paid; searching stays free.

Where is the ZoomInfo API documentation?

The current reference is at docs.gtm.ai, with MCP, CLI and credit docs at gtm.ai/docs. The api-docs.zoominfo.com reference is the legacy API, which ZoomInfo is deprecating.

Did ZoomInfo change its name to GTM?

No. ZoomInfo Technologies changed its Nasdaq ticker from ZI to GTM on May 12, 2025, and GTM.AI is the name of its developer and AI-agent product. The company is still ZoomInfo.

Does the ZoomInfo API return phone numbers?

Through the contact enrich endpoint, yes, for the fields your package includes. ZoomInfo lists mobile phone data among its enterprise package inclusions; whether the self-serve tier returns mobile numbers is not stated on its public pages.

What happens when I hit the ZoomInfo API rate limit?

ZoomInfo returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header, and X-RateLimit-Rejected-Bucket tells you whether the per-second, hourly or daily window ran out. Rejected requests do not count against your quota.
