The verdict

Apollo.io is good value for small teams that will use its sequences and dialer as well as its database. Plans start at $49 a user a month on annual billing, and Capterra users rate it 4.5 out of 5. Its weak spots are phone accuracy, support and credits that run out. Cleanlist publishes this review and sells contact data too; our own plans are public.

Last updated: September 22, 2026. This is a pricing, fit and user-evidence review. We have not run Apollo on a test file of our own, so no figure on this page is a Cleanlist measurement of Apollo's data. Apollo's plan prices come from Apollo's own pages as recorded in Cleanlist's pricing ledger and our public B2B data pricing index, read on September 1, 2026. Ratings and quotes come from Capterra and Trustpilot, read on September 22, 2026. For the full plan and credit arithmetic, read our Apollo.io pricing guide.

What is Apollo.io?

Apollo.io is a sales platform that combines a B2B contact database with the tools to use it: search filters, email sequences, a parallel dialer, a Chrome extension, CRM sync, deal management and conversation intelligence. Its homepage describes it as "one connected GTM system" and says more than 600,000 companies use it.

The database is the reason most people sign up. Apollo states "240M+ contacts and 30M+ accounts" on its homepage. On its data page it says "2M+ users help keep Apollo data fresh every day through inbox connections, CRM syncs, and real-world engagement signals", that it "partners with leading data providers to fill gaps", and that it runs "seven-step email verification with 98% accuracy." Those are Apollo's own figures. We know of no independent audit of them, so read them as vendor claims.

That contributor model is worth understanding before you buy. If much of the refresh comes from users' own inboxes and CRMs, the data should be freshest where Apollo's users sell and thinner where few of them do. That is our reading of Apollo's description, and it matches the coverage complaints in the reviews below.

Is Apollo.io worth it?

For a team that uses the whole workspace, yes. The price of an email reveal is low for a tool that also includes sequences, and the outreach tools sit in the same workspace as the data. Here is the plan ladder:

PlanAnnual billingMonthly billingCredits included
Free$0$075 per seat a month
Basic$49 a user a month$65 a user a month30,000 per seat a year on annual, 2,500 a month on monthly
Professional$79 a user a month$99 a user a month48,000 per seat a year on annual, 4,000 a month on monthly
Organization$119 a user a month, 3-user minimumAnnual only72,000 per seat a year

Apollo's published credit rates are what decide the bill. An email reveal is 1 credit and a phone number is 8. On Basic with annual billing that works out to $19.60 per 1,000 email reveals and $156.80 per 1,000 phone reveals, from our pricing index arithmetic. Apollo's own FAQ adds that data enrichment "uses up to 9 credits per record", so a full record with a mobile number costs far more than an email-only reveal.

Where it stops being worth it: a phone-heavy motion burns 8 credits a dial, and the per-user price climbs quickly past five seats. A ten-rep team on Professional pays $790 a month on annual billing before any add-on credits.

Is Apollo.io free?

Apollo has a free plan. Our pricing index records it at 75 credits per seat a month, which is up to 75 email reveals, or nine phone numbers at 8 credits each. Search itself does not use credits on Apollo. The free plan is enough to learn the product and judge the data on your own market. It is too small to run outbound on.

Is Apollo.io legit?

Apollo is a real, widely used company, and it documents where its data comes from: user inbox and CRM connections, plus data partners that fill the gaps. The complaints on review sites are about service and data quality. Two patterns are worth knowing before you buy:

  • Support and account access. On Trustpilot, 36% of Apollo's 1,320 reviews are one star, and the recent ones we read describe billing, login and support problems.
  • Your own data may be in it. Because Apollo learns contacts from connected inboxes, people find their details in Apollo without having signed up. Apollo handles removal requests through its Privacy Center.

What Apollo.io users say

We read Apollo's reviews on Capterra and Trustpilot on September 22, 2026. Capterra shows 4.5 out of 5 from 398 reviews, with 4.5 for ease of use and 4.2 for customer service. Trustpilot shows a TrustScore of 3.1 from 1,320 reviews, split between 46% five-star and 36% one-star. The gap between those two sites is the story: people who use Apollo daily like the product, and people who hit a billing or support problem are loud about it.

What users like, quoted from Capterra:

"I also found the advanced filters really useful for narrowing down leads based on industry, company size, job title, and other criteria, which helped me focus on higher-quality prospects."

Business Development Executive, IT and services, July 2026

"Apollo gave me enough reliable company and contact data without the enterprise-level pricing of ZoomInfo."

Co-Founder, computer software, May 2026

"Being able to find contacts, verify emails, and manage outreach in one system saves a lot of time and reduces the need for multiple tools."

Director of Sales Support, construction, March 2026

What users dislike:

"Some contact information is outdated and credit can runs out quickly with heavy usage that need to be improve."

Database Executive, marketing and advertising, July 2026 (Capterra)

"For high-value accounts, I would not use Apollo as the only source of truth."

Co-Founder, computer software, May 2026 (Capterra)

"The phone numbers are highly inaccurate, and most of the ones provided are just generic corporate lines that I could easily find on Google."

Owner, staffing and recruiting, March 2025 (Capterra)

"I have been dealing with an issue with Apollo for over 1 month and cannot get a Support person to help."

Where Apollo.io is strong

Price per email. $19.60 per 1,000 email reveals on Basic annual is a low rate for a tool that also sends the sequence. For an email-first team, that is the number that matters.

One workspace, many jobs. Our pricing index records unlimited sequences, waterfall enrichment and CRM integrations on Basic, and the dialer, Chrome extension and deal tools live in the same workspace. A founder running outbound alone can do the whole job in Apollo.

Filters. Users praise the depth of the filters, and it shows in the reviews above: industry, company size and job title, among others, in one search screen.

A usable free plan. You can learn the product and test the data on your own market before you pay.

Where Apollo.io is weak

Phone numbers. Phone accuracy draws the sharpest complaints in the reviews we read, and each phone reveal costs 8 credits.

Credits run out. The allowance looks large per year, but enrichment can use up to 9 credits a record, and a heavy user reports running out quickly.

Support. Customer service scores 4.2 on Capterra against 4.5 overall, and the recent one-star Trustpilot reviews we read describe support and billing problems.

Per-user pricing. Every rep needs a seat, and Organization has a 3-user minimum on annual billing.

Coverage and freshness. Outdated contacts come up in the reviews, and the contributor model suggests coverage follows Apollo's user base. Test the free plan on your own target accounts before you commit a team to it.

Who should pick Apollo.io, and who should not

Pick Apollo if:

  • You are a founder or a team under ten reps doing email-first outbound into tech, SaaS or services.
  • You want search, sequences and a dialer in one tool, and you will use all three.
  • You can live with checking phone numbers before a call block.

Look elsewhere if:

  • Your reps dial for a living and need direct dials they can trust.
  • You already run a sequencer and only need clean emails and phones on a list you hold.
  • You need a named support contact who answers the same day.

If you are weighing Apollo against the largest enterprise database, our Apollo vs ZoomInfo comparison covers that choice, and the Apollo alternatives page lists other tools by use case.

The verdict on Apollo.io

Apollo.io is worth buying for small, email-first teams that will use the sequences and dialer, and its free plan makes it cheap to find out. Budget for extra credits if you reveal phone numbers, verify numbers before a call block, and plan around slow support. Teams that mainly need accurate direct dials, or that already own their outreach stack, will get less from the bundle than the price suggests.

Where Cleanlist fits

Some teams use Apollo mostly to get emails and phone numbers onto a list they already have. That is the job Cleanlist does. We have not run the two on the same file, so this section makes no claim about which returns more. The difference is in how each one charges and where the data comes from: Cleanlist runs one list through 25+ providers in sequence and charges only for the results that come back.

  • You want the enriched list written into HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive, or pushed to Outreach, Salesloft or Lemlist

FAQ

Is Apollo.io worth the money in 2026?

For email-first teams under about ten reps, yes. Basic costs $49 a user a month on annual billing, which our pricing index puts at $19.60 per 1,000 email reveals. It is worth less to phone-first teams, because a phone reveal costs 8 credits and phone accuracy draws some of the sharpest complaints in user reviews.

Is Apollo.io legit or a scam?

Apollo.io is a legitimate company used by more than 600,000 companies, by its own count. The recent one-star reviews we read on Trustpilot are about billing, login problems and slow support. Apollo documents where its data comes from and handles removal requests through its Privacy Center.

Is Apollo.io free?

Apollo has a free plan with 75 credits per seat a month, per our pricing index. Search does not use credits. Paid plans start at $49 a user a month on annual billing.

How accurate is Apollo.io data?

Apollo states "seven-step email verification with 98% accuracy" on its data page. That is Apollo's own figure. Users on Capterra describe the contact data as reliable enough for the price, and single out phone numbers, bounces and older records as the weak spots. We have not tested Apollo's data ourselves.

What is Apollo.io's rating on Capterra and Trustpilot?

On September 22, 2026, Apollo.io had 4.5 out of 5 from 398 reviews on Capterra and a TrustScore of 3.1 from 1,320 reviews on Trustpilot.

What is the best Apollo.io alternative?

It depends on why you are leaving. Teams that need a bigger enterprise database look at ZoomInfo; teams that need better phone numbers on an existing list look at enrichment tools. Our Apollo alternatives page sorts them by use case.
