The short answer
A bulk email finder takes a file of first names, last names and company domains and returns a verified work email for every row it can find. Published prices per 1,000 verified emails: Skrapp $14.50 (Professional, annual), Apollo $19.60 for in-app reveals or $39.20 for bulk enrichment (Basic, annual, per seat), Snov.io $29.25 (Starter, annual), BetterContact $39.80 (Pro, 5,000 credits) and Cleanlist $39.33 annual or $52.67 monthly on Starter, where a verified work email is 1 credit and a row with no result costs nothing. The company domain is the input that matters most. Plans are on the pricing page.
Prices checked October 1, 2026. This is the most common job buyers bring to us, and they put it plainly: "I have a bunch of people and I wanna find their emails." "I exported a lead list ... as a CSV. The only information missing is the email address." About 45 support conversations this summer were some version of it. We make Cleanlist, so the worked steps use it, and the file advice holds for any tool.
What a bulk email finder does
A bulk email finder turns a list of people into a list of addresses you can send to. You upload a file, the tool looks up each row, and you download the file with new columns: the email it found and a status for that email.
The status matters as much as the address. Most finders sort results into four groups:
- Valid. The address exists and the mail server accepts it.
- Accept-all, or catch-all. The company's mail server accepts every address, real or not, so the check cannot prove this one exists. Treat these as a risk to test in small numbers.
- Invalid. The address does not exist. Never send to it.
- Not found. The tool found no address for the person. A good tool charges nothing for these.
What your file needs
A lot of the difference in find rate between two lists comes from the file, and the fixes are simple.
| Column | Why it matters | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| First name | Part of every email pattern | Remove titles and suffixes ("Dr.", "Jr.") |
| Last name | Part of every email pattern | Keep hyphens and accents as the person writes them |
| Company domain | Identifies one company and its mail server | "acme.com" beats "Acme Inc"; add it if you only have names |
| Company name | A fallback when there is no domain | Use the name as it appears on the company's website |
| Job title (optional) | Helps confirm the right person | Useful when two people share a name |
One person per row, no merged cells, and no duplicates. If your list came from an event or a form, split "Full name" into first and last before you upload. Our guide to enriching a CSV of leads covers file preparation in more detail.
Three ways bulk email finders work
1. Pattern guessing and a mailbox check. The tool works out the company's format (first.last@, flast@, first@) from addresses it already knows, builds the likely address, and asks the mail server whether it exists. It is cheap and fast. It fails on catch-all domains, where the server says yes to everything, and on people whose address breaks the pattern.
2. A single database lookup. The tool matches the person against its own database of known addresses. It is only as good as that database's coverage of your market: strong where the vendor has lots of records, thin where it does not.
3. A waterfall across providers. The tool asks one provider, and if that provider has no verified address, it asks the next, until one returns a verified result or the list runs out. It costs more to run, and it finds more of the people any single source misses. Cleanlist works this way, across 25+ providers, and stops at the first verified hit.
What finding 1,000 emails costs
These are published list prices from our price ledger and pricing indexes, read between August 7 and October 1, 2026, for a verified email at each vendor's entry plan or, where noted, a larger tier. Several email-finding specialists are data providers inside Cleanlist's waterfall, and we leave them out of tables like this one.
| Vendor and plan | How it is metered | Per 1,000 verified emails |
|---|---|---|
| Skrapp Professional, annual | 1 credit per email | $14.50 |
| Apollo Basic, annual | 1 credit per email revealed, per seat | $19.60 |
| Snov.io Starter, annual | 1 credit per saved prospect or verification | $29.25 |
| Apollo Basic, annual, bulk enrichment | 2 credits per record | $39.20 |
| Cleanlist Starter, annual | 1 credit per verified work email found | $39.33 |
| BetterContact Pro, 5,000 credits | 1 credit per valid email | $39.80 |
| Kaspr Starter, annual | Unlimited email credits, capped at 12,000 exports a year | $49.00 |
| Cleanlist Starter, monthly | 1 credit per verified work email found | $52.67 |
| ContactOut Email, monthly | 300 exports a month | $163.33 |
| RocketReach Essentials, annual | 1,200 exports a year | $274.17 |
| UpLead Essentials, annual | 1 credit per contact | $435.29 |
Read the metering column first. Apollo's cheapest rate is a reveal inside its own app; its bulk enrichment of a list you bring is 2 credits a record on the same page. Kaspr, ContactOut and RocketReach are priced by exports, so the rate holds only if you use every export. Cleanlist and BetterContact charge only when an email comes back verified, so a row with nothing costs nothing.
How to find emails for a list in Cleanlist
- Prepare the file with first name, last name and company domain on each row.
- Upload it and choose to append a work email. If you also want phones, a direct dial is 10 credits and both on one row is 11; our guide to direct dial phone numbers covers what phones cost elsewhere.
- Run it. Each row goes through the waterfall and stops at the first verified address. A verified work email is 1 credit, and a row with no result costs nothing.
- Download or sync the result. Cleanlist syncs both ways with HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive, and pushes to Outreach, Salesloft and Lemlist, on Pro and above; on every plan you can export a CSV.
The 14-day Scale trial gives you 250 credits and 3 seats, which is 250 verified emails, enough to judge the find rate on a sample of your own list. After that, Starter is $79 a month for 1,500 credits, Pro is $229 for 5,000, and Scale is $599 for 15,000, with 25% off on annual billing.
What find rate should you expect?
It depends on the list as much as the tool. Lists of people at larger companies in well-covered markets usually find more. Very small companies, thinly covered regions and old lists usually find fewer, because there is less data about them and more of it has gone stale.
Cleanlist's own figure is 98% verified work email on the Cleanlist 500-Lead Enrichment Benchmark, which is our own test on a 500-lead sample. It is not a test of any other vendor, and your own list will differ. The only find rate that matters is the one you measure on a sample of your file.
Before you send to the list
- Send to valid addresses first. Hold catch-all addresses back and test a small batch before you send to the rest.
- Remove invalid addresses completely. A high bounce rate hurts every future campaign from that domain.
- Enrich close to the send date. People change jobs, and an address that was valid in spring may bounce in autumn.
- Follow the rules where you send. Honor opt-outs, identify yourself, and check the email marketing rules in each country on your list.
Frequently asked questions
What is a bulk email finder?
A tool that takes a list of people and companies and returns a work email for each person it can find, with a status such as valid, catch-all or invalid. You upload a file and download it with the emails added.
Can I find emails from a list of names only?
Not reliably. A name alone matches many people. Add the company, and ideally the company's web domain, to every row. That is what lets a finder identify one person at one company. If you have companies but no names yet, start with our guide to finding the decision makers at a list of companies.
How much does it cost to find 1,000 emails?
Published entry-plan prices in our 2026 indexes run from $14.50 per 1,000 (Skrapp Professional annual) and $19.60 (Apollo Basic annual, per seat, in-app reveals) to $435.29 (UpLead Essentials annual). Cleanlist is 1 credit per verified work email, which is $52.67 per 1,000 on Starter billed monthly and $39.33 billed annually, and nothing for rows it cannot find.
Are the emails a bulk finder returns already verified?
It depends on the tool. Cleanlist checks each work email at the mailbox before it returns it. With any tool, look at the status column and treat catch-all results as unconfirmed.
What is a catch-all email?
An address at a company whose mail server accepts every address, so a check cannot tell whether that one person exists. Some catch-all addresses are real and some are not. Test them in small batches.
Is there a free bulk email finder?
Most tools give a small free allowance. Cleanlist's free plan is 30 credits a month, and its 14-day trial is 250 credits. For a list of hundreds or thousands of people, expect to pay per email found.
Run this on your own contacts
Put your own contacts through the multi-provider waterfall and export the result. 250 credits, 3 seats, 14 days. Bulk CSV upload lands on Starter at $79/mo, and CRM import and sync on Pro at $229/mo.
